when all the secrets are given out, now I wont be surprised at all.:laughing7::laughing7::laughing7:np:cat:

No, you can't be surprised by anything. When finding a "ring" was brought up when doing the search on "Snake Island", guess what was coincidentally found a few episodes later ? It was as if the writer's were reading the forums for their script material.

Plus I don't think the Templar would go through all THAT trouble to bury their treasure. Plus all the trouble digging it back up. A hidden cave is more likely the hiding place.
If Nolan is right and it was a group of British soldiers/army engenders its does make sense. Bury it so that you need a large group of soldiers/engineers to get it again. This stops people stumbling across it and stealing it. But when you come back you know how to retrieve it,

The issue though is if they buried it why did they not come back and get it?

I ask again does anyone know how significant a chamber in the slate is ? Do they occur naturally?

I didnt say they used centuries old fiber, only that any found 'could' be centuries old as it has been transported AND also washed onto Oak Island for 100's (1000's?) of years....so dating any found doesnt mean much

You evidently missed the FACT that coconut fibre did not exist anywhere in the Atlantic Basin prior to being introduced by the Portuguese in 1499. That means any of the fibre dated to the early 14th century was brought there from somewhere else. The Templars were the only ones who had access to it through their headquarters on Cyprus as Cyprus traded with India from where coconut fibre was made into several different products. The Templars left France in some 18 vessels in 1307 and nobody knows where these vessels went. Now, why is it so hard to believe they came to Vinland?

And, for others, I have never said they buried anything on Oak Island, only that they passed through Oak Island.

Cheers, Loki

You nailed it. I've been saying this as well but have not found many who agree. It is hydraulically perfect for a giant sand filter. A failed attempt at desalination. Failures rarely get acknowledged in history.
================================================
I don't believe this,,,, I was just going to put this out there.
From what I read here,,,There was/is MORE than one "OAK ISLAND" up there.
I am fully agreeing with the desalination well idea. It fully fits,,at least in my world.
But according to this thread.
I think i found the true oak island and the Grail castle place of Prince Henry
Lots of GREAT links there too. That the REAL "OAK ISLAND"
"the true oak island is near Pictou. and the Grail Castle was in the wilderness near Mt. Thom.
if the records reported about Prince Henry is right."

Man this will surely piss off the Laginas if this is true.

Like treasure information? Here: http://thegreatlosttreasure.info/Page1.html This ought to keep you busy for a month or two. The page navigation is primitive, and there's no search feature, but there's ample food for thought for everyone. Oak Island is part of the mix, and most information is on Page 4.

Amigo:coffee2: OAK WHAT?, WHERE?, WELL, LORDY,LORDY, Imagine that!, who would ever have guessed ,NP:cat:

Loki,

In another thread the fiber dating was discussed by you and Robot and he proposed that the fiber came from Malaysia as qouted here...and makes the most sense to me...

"It makes more sense that the Coconut Fiber Industry was only in Malaysia.

Spanish ships from the East Indies would cart supplies and trade to Havana and off load and store this packing material prior to taking the gold shipments back to Spain.

The Keppels would have had boat loads of this material stored at Havana, readily available for their plans at Oak Island.

This allows for the carbon dating of the Coconut Fibers to be 14th Century, while all other stated items found (Wood Pieces and Wood Platforms, Block and Tackle, Cornish Poll-Pick, Ax, Scissors, Shoe, Parchment Paper, Ruler, Anchor Flute, Nails, Metal Fragments, Chain and Boatswain Whistle) to be compatible with the 18th Century, and conform with the Freemasons as builders of The Money Pit at Oak Island.

This allows for the Scientist who documented the history of the Coconut Seed to be correct in that although the Coconut Tree arrived in the Caribbean during the 16th Century there was not a flourishing Coconut Fiber Industry outside of Malaysia prior to the 1700's ad.

This theory would still disqualify Vikings, Knights Templar and Druids as possible builders, as they did not have access to this quantity of fibers in their time period from the West Indies or East Indies. "

Could the Templars have visited Oak Island? Sure, why not.....but the box drains i don't believe were built by them, nor was there use intended to flood tunnels hiding a treasure. I still believe they were used to harvest salt...by 'who' doesnt matter to much as any long term visit would require salt and this was a proven old tech method of securing it...

Since no flood tunnels have ever been uncovered by many attempts at finding them...that use of the drains is out of the picture for me and the salt recovery makes the most sense as fresh water was available via shallow wells on the island...

JMO that i'll stick with, of course yours and others are welcome as well..

Umm, you have to explain to me how Spanish ships arrived in Havana or the East Indies in the 14th century, and who told you there was no coconut fibre industry outside of Malaysia? If you are talking about the Keppel of England, that was 18th century. Nobody is going to use centuries old coconut fibres for anything.
How is this wild assumption more likely than Templars who had traded with Indian merchants on Cyprus at the correct time and had left Cyprus as well as France at the right time (1307) and had seagoing vessels that seemingly disappeared.
Cheers, Loki

Do you realize that this thread is about the TV show? There is an entire sub-forum for all the crackpot theory dscussions, which I have put on "ignore" so I don't get accused of trolling. Keep that garbage over there.

Well....you have missed the point...that there were other places for fiber to come from prior to your 1700's date in the Alantic Basin as you had previously stated...Who or where has little to do with it...

The same with who built the box drains, or when....My ONLY point is they were not built as a flood tunnel entrance to guard/booby trap any treasure at all....only because salt was a commodity that was needed and this type of system had been in use for years to gather sea salt...

A practical use, not some speculative use that there is no evdence of....by anyone that has dug up the island

If the Templars built them in your opinion, fine, but WHAT they were built for is the point here...not by who/when

While not part of my point, i would be interested to know...other than the fibers...what evidence do you have that Templars did visit Oak Island? Because honestly, that isn't much...

Edit...Jasons right, so I will not respond to this anymore on this thread...Back to TV!

One third of the posts on this thread are about somebodys pet theory but while answering a detractor to my own theory you say to me "keep that garbage over there", very interesting indeed!

For Roadhse2, what I had written about the coconut fibre was that it was not anywhere in the Atlantic Basin before 1499, and that is not in the Caribbean either. I don't know what the finger drains were for, although I did disagree with Dennis Kings theory. As a salt collecting process, I suppose it could be. There certainly would have been a need for salt if a small group were to begin a settlement nearby.
Just to keep on subject I myself kind of like the TV show even though I don't get much of a chance to watch it.
Cheers, Loki

I wish the makeup people on the show would do something about Dans' lips.

Amigo's :coffee2::director:What real factual proof is there that there is treasure buried on Oak Island, Absolutely None, so whats all the fuss? Why spend one penny on something that Isn't there, no real facts ,
no treasure, only the stories, which are a dime a dozen. show me the facts.:dontknow: np:cat:

Stories that can be traced no farther back in history than the mid 1800's. Nobody ever saw the "layers of wood planks", or saw any inscribed stone, or a tackle block hanging in a tree. The entire thing is giant waste of money based on a story written to sell books.

The TV program people, dated the coconut fibre to the 1300s more or less. What about that?

so.... where were the fibers recovered? How did they make sure there was no contamination? What method was used? where was it tested? How many samples were tested, what controls were implemented, and where are the results? Just because a TV show says something doesn't make it so. Heck, They claim every single episode that there WAS a pit, and there WAS layers of logs and the never seen rock is real!

Amigo's:coffee2:FACTS,FACTS ON TREASURE.? there are none.:BangHead:np:cat:
