Season "3" of Curse of Oak Island

That Cat was probably for Product Placement to pay the weeks lease on it

I agree. Each time I re-watch that episode it makes me shake my head. Stating they can't bring the drill rig in because of the tree limbs ? Each time I watched, there was nothing substantial in the way at all. Then they bring in their Cat and knock down a couple dead branches with minimal diameter, that if need be, the drill rig could have easily brushed them aside. I do feel for the brothers, you can see in their eyes that their childhood dream has been just that. They still want to believe, but look as if they are trying to bow out gracefully and with some dignity intact. 55+ years ago, Oak Island captured my imagination and I read everything I could find, fast forward, I still want to believe, but I can't imagine someone having the time, or technology to build these so called flood traps, let alone digging half way to China with picks and shovels.

Also missed, British soldiers buried the treasure, last night

This is a theory i have seen before and i beleive is the most plausable. These soliders would of had the engineers with the capability to dig the pit. It would also be consistent with the chapel vault and metal chest theory allegadly discovered by earlier treasure hunters.

But they need to find the actual pit and dig it to see if a treasure is still there. It is very unlikley that if it was the british army that buried the traesure there that they did not come back and get it.

What i do not understand is why they think treasure will be found anywhere else other then the pit.

I do not think we will ever see an answer unless they find the actual pit and dig or at least drill it.

Wasn't there a ship wreck found out in the bay? Supposedly dating back to roman times?

As a young teenager reading the Readers Digest story, I have waited years for news of someone finding the treasure...Or finding out who really killed JFK...

Looks like we will never know either...

The show is fun, but becoming less so with, as others have mentioned, jumping from one thing to another before much of any attempt is really made....more filler than facts repeated over and over.

Umm, I think Lee Harvey Oswald killed JFK.

If the location of the flood tunnel's intakes are known (shown many times on graphic images as well as based on the recovery of coconut fibers at the location supposedly filtering water going into the flood tunnels) why not build a coffer dam in the cove then start digging up the flood tunnels and follow them to the original money pit's location and possible treasure board?

That would make sense. But since the canals/conduits were never located except in legend and imagination it can't be done. Their existence is inferred because water came in when they drilled; and someone found some coconut fibers buried near the shore. Oh, and maybe some dye came out somewhere . . . or not. Didn't seem to work for the Laganias.

I have often wondered the same thing, has anyone ever built coffer dams to locate/explore the tunnels? They must have been used when the tunnels were originally built, so shouldn't be to hard to replicate now.

Though laws have changed and that may be the stumbling block, getting permission or permits to do so.

With all the money spent on these explorations, it would seem a coffer dam would be the cheapest way to the truth of the treasure being there or not.

EDIT;

It looks like coffer dams have been tried, including by Dan Blankenship in 1970...

Read through this timeline for a lot of information on what has been done in the past...1970 tells what was found when Blankenship excavated the cove area..

After reading the timeline..Chronology of the Oak Island Treasure Hunt (1960-1972)

I would say the hardest part of the show must be Dan Blankenship keeping a straight face when the brothers propose some 'new' method...including dives into the chamber of borehole 10X, which had already been done in 1971 ten times with no manmade objects found. Blankenship and crew accomplished more in one month than the Brothers have since they have been on the island.

So, i think it is all a sham just for TV, no large scale efforts have been made, no huge outlays of cash ( I believe most of what we are seeing is being done for free for the exposure, or at the very most a few small comps, motel rooms, food, fuel), no 'millions' being spent or already spent. Anything they are doing has already been done several times and they already know the answer/results, so it is just for show...

I'm not sure I believe Blankenship dove all the way in.
except maybe in his dreams.

if he did why were they relying on film of a supposed body.

if he dove in he would already know if it was or was not there.

He did/does already know...this is all a 'play' of past work that has been done, in an abbreviated manner at the least expense, for a tv show...

Blankenship himself may not have been the diver, they had already sent down cameras the month before and that is what made them decide to send a diver(s) down to check it out...they found nothing.

On the show they made the call not to send a diver down, to dangerous....and the right call IF the answer was already known...Insurance company probably made that decision in reality. If a 'real' treasure hunt, I think a diver would have gone on in...the greed for treasure would supercede the safety of the decision.

NP...Same reason others are still looking for the LDM...or reading about it...fun to try to unravel the mystery.

So, the original Money Pit is lost. And if so, couldn't it also be the Lost Duchman Mine!

I believe (& only a Guess) that back when heavy equipment was brought in to strip the Island,
the original money Pit and surroundings were entirely dug to the flood level.
then back filled when nothing turned up.

That's what they want you to think ;) I for one really don't care if they find any treasure. It's just cool watching since I read a book about it as a kid in the seventies. I can only watch it on dvr though since I have to fast forward past all the war room meetings, silly theories and rehashing of past shows.

Yes it gets a Bit Laughable & Frustrating at times. Possibly due to the Editors.
But it is a Treasure Hunting Show. Not a Treasure Finding show.
