Season 12

You failed to mention in this weeks show in what was essentially a flash back to where I think it was Crowell in his research had found 8-9 pages of a ships log where a group was tasked with bringing there valuables/treasure to the OI area with the plan to put it in a deep pit. It tells who the group was but I don't recall at the moment.. I realize this info goes completely against your narrative, so I understand why you'd leave it out!! Isn't that what you accuse the show of doing!!
LOL….crowell attempting to further embellish the show.

The document never mentioned specifically oak island. In the laginas’ script any area within 5000 miles is considered oak island area.

So you think the pages were made up by Crowell. He just dreamed them up for the sake of the show.. It's ironic how on one hand you don't think any of it is true because nothing nationally was written about it until 1849. but then when something is written about some part of it all it's just a fake, lie, embellishing, etc... At this rate even if they found some gold in the ground you'd say it was planted.. No way the show can ever prove it's self to be real/factual at this point...

They never referenced Oak Island so what do they have to do with buried treasure on O.I.?

Maybe nothing, but it shows someone was coming in that direction with valuables/treasure to bury in a "deep pit".. So it is possible that they did end up on OI and bury it in a deep pit.. It would not be out of one thinking that someone would do that. The papers say they plan to do just that...

The only shaft that has consistently made a profit, is the shaft that the viewers get from the producers.
You gotta love a show where something almost happens.

“Coming in that direction”

That’s the same thinking displayed by the laginas each week.

Plus that’s yet ANOTHER treasure tale put forth by the lagina’s scripted show hoping to keep folks interested.

I need to rewatch that part of the show and see how he words it. Everyone keeps saying why would anyone dig a deep hole to hide something, well this says as much, as to someone doing it regardless of where they did it at really.!! Sure we don't know how deep of course...

Supposedly these pages were an English translation of a ship's log from the French "Duc d'Anville" expedition. Problem is, they just suddenly showed up in 1968 by an anonymous donor and with no provenance. AFAIK, historians doubt their authenticity. If someone was able to translate original log pages to English, then there is an original log somewhere, and that's what is needed to lend any credence to this tale.

Furthermore, I believe the log suggests a 100-foot deep hole with a secret tunnel dug from the shore to the 100-foot level. Such a proposal for burying a treasure would be completely stupid, especially in 1750. No one would have ever done that. More COI nonsense.

We can't make judgement today as to what/why someone would do 100's of years ago. Who would have thought people would have built Pyramids 4000 years ago.

Of course we can! It's a perfectly legitimate part of evaluating suspicious evidence. In this case we have some pages supposedly translated from a ship's log with no provenance whatsoever. It would then be reasonable to judge the pages' content for sanity. The proposed scheme makes no sense.

I wonder how many hours a year they spend looking for the treasure? I'll bet they've spent thousands of hours searching, digging and drilling. I'm stubborn, but I would never spend that much time looking for treasure in any area if I had only found a few coins and relics over a 12 year span.

The big question is whether or not they continue to look after the show is canceled and their fat paychecks from The History Channel ends?

If we speculate that their search and filming season lasts at least four months each summer, and that they are conducting some sort of search or search-planning activity for at least eight hours a day, five days a week, that's roughly 18 weeks x 40 hours = 720 hrs/year as a team, x 12 seasons = ~ 8640 hours. Now multiply that by the number of people on the team each year! A huge investment of man hours, and those were conservative estimates. This is why the theory that the show is a giant hoax won't fly with me. The whole allure of reality TV shows for networks is that they are much cheaper to produce than traditional scripted drama/comedies/etc. If the enormity of the production puts the costs right back up there with that older model, it will have lost its appeal to a profit-driven corporation like A&E Networks.

Excellent question! I suspect that true-believer Rick Lagina will stay with it in some role or another. Marty Lagina and Craig Tester, who have going business concerns back in Michigan unrelated to Oak Island, may find it less worth their while. The science-focused bunch like Laird's archaeological group may want to continue their excavations but they'd need to switch their funding model most likely. If anyone at all from the current crew stays with the search effort beyond the life of the production, will that be enough to convince the extreme doubters that the show wasn't just a money-grab fiction? Hmmm.

Curse of Oak Islamd Season 12, Episode 20 Recap

As the laginas continue to realize that more and more folks are on to their scam they continue to mention the fictional “solution channel” to explain that the reason the treasure is not there is due to it being pushed into the “solution channel”. Perhaps at the end of the season they will state that the treasure was forever flushed away in the “solution channel” making it plausible to end the series.

And YES, yet ANOTHER kookie theory is announced.

I wonder how in the hell they sit around and come up with all these new explanations. All they keep finding are old timbers from past digs and not one single item of value. And their how deep... 100-130 ft deep...? Who and for what reason would EVER want a hole that deep...? They keep going and have not once stated why they believe something of value is buried. I surely hope they don't head back overseas looking for "something" which proves "something" like the rocks in the swamp prove....?

Same reason Gilbert Hedden did all his digs in the 125'-160' deep and tunneled laterally at that depth. Because he could, in hopes of finding something valuable... and this was in the late 1930's mind you...

And again.... the reasoning behind all the digging was based upon (what)...?

Now there just digging holes all over and all based upon (what)...?

Sound like this "hoping" thingy takes a lot of work and we know a vivid imagination...!

If you have been paying attention over the years there are all kinds of theories as to who, what, when, how MIGHT have come to OI and buried their stash and most would have a plan for their people to retrieve it later on in time for various reasons. Granted no "written" documents show this actually happening on OI, but I wouldn't expect there to be like you do apparently. Think about it. Let me go bury my stuff and document it for everyone to see in hopes no one else follows my instructions on how to retrieve it before I do, or my peoples next Generation does, or who ever is supposed to be retrieving it... Different groups have found wood older then the beginning of the story in the MP area and that just fuels the fire as to just maybe something is there.. They apparently have the money to search so why not..

They apparently have the money to search so why not..
Hell I'm blessed enough to have the money to remove the top 200 ft of this entire ridgetop.... but to what end...? Because someone said Confederate gold is buried on your ridgetop.

The brothers are digging where a lot of others have already dug and getting the exact same results. And they just keep repeating and bringing up the proof. And I'd bet they'll stop when they got to start paying all the heavy equipment bills again after their dropped. But maybe they'll find some brand new twists and turns to squeeze another season out of their sponsors...?

Who Can Think...Outside Of The "Box"?

When one is programed to only see what one wants to see.." This refers to the process of perceiving information in a way that is influenced by one's expectations, motivations, or needs. Essentially, we "see" what we expect to see, or what we want to see."

I am amazed by how quickly the Laginas come to the conclution as to what they have found and where this item may have originated from, along with their ideas of what the "Swamp" was used for...not taking into considerations as to how previous Civilizations may have designed their use for this Swamp?
Keep water in?...Or...Keep water out?

Example!
Think outside the "Box"!
