2 clubs in this area the SPMA and treasure seekers. I am not familiar with either. Sorry

Here ya go Meep, this is from today. Got a little color, and a nice little terminated shard, and the biggest garnet I've seen, at least I think it's a garnet.

Looks like a Garnet to me Dan. I've pulled some nice ones out of that area in the past. One was about the size of my little fingernail. Colors will range from orange to deep DEEP red.

Thanks Jeff, I appreciate your input, and pointing us to this spot. Hope you kill it next time you go to the claim.

Meep, you dig at EF, this past weekend?

Nice pull out of SD! Nice to see some different shapes. Went to east fork twice and have been starring at the tiniest of fines. A bit perplexed after clean out, feels like I lost some gold switching containers or panning it.

Today, I ran 5 buckets and found this sitting in the sluice.

Friday, I ran 17+ of the same material and ended up with

That pic is including the take from today too. Feel like I saw a lot more than that in my cons at the end of Friday but it didnt end up making it to my clean out somehow. Still more than Im used to finding though so Im happy with it. Found myself a tiny garnet too! And an odd colored brown flake.

Have you San Diego guys ever crossed paths with a character last name of Risk ? Probbaly in the Julian or Indian Res area.

Not myself. I've inly met a couple guys in the field and I remember if someone introduced them self as Risk..

@ Meep, that's still not bad for that area, remember it's all flood gold that far down river. I've done best in the 1-3 feet of sand and gravel under the large rock layer. This year I am hoping on a couple overnight trips, so I/we can hike in 3-4 miles and look for some real gold.

Dont get around Julian or the reservations much, dont know him.

Yeah, thats the layer I was digging. I take some comfort in the fact that I was digging the same large hole as another guy on Monday and we were comparing what we got. He was digging deeper and I was on the flood layer. I did half the work and ended up finding more gold in just a few buckets than he did after twice material.

I spent quite a few day trips up deeper in the canyon where the nuggets are being pulled. Hard to find a fresh spot to dig or a hole that isnt full of large boulders. Found bigger flakes, few and far between, but the camp up there was super friendly. Some of the nicest dudes I've met. Been trying to camp out there, make the hike worth it, but the parking area has been a bit sketchy so I didnt want to leave my car.

Ya I understand there's been a few busted car windows etc. in the parking lot. I believe it's far and few between though. Once it warm up a bit, I'll plan a trip. I still need to get some more camping gear.

I know it is upstream, not sure about the stretch below the parking lot... Eldoradoville, nugget alley, etc. Ask on an EF thread, or over on the EF FB page.

Another good day on "Dry Creek" in San Diego. And another chance to meet another fellow prospector. Glad you came with us Meep.

Was a good time! Nice meeting you finally, good to see people doing the same thing in SD. Gotta do it again soon. That picture doesn't do the color justice. Good finds today!

nice work...good job getting out there :)

Considering that I know what you guys have to go through to get to that place... Good job! Has Brandon had any luck in contacting the property owner so you can get in there with your truck yet? That would make your life a lot easier when it come to getting in there. (Insert sound of whip cracking here)

We hauled a lot of materials out of there back when we were working that area. We'd "Chain gang" the buckets up the bank and into the back of my truck. Made it a lot easier on everyone. Then we'd meet up at one of the guys places and have a sluicing party until all hours of the night. :occasion14:

Jeff we aren't going in from the estates side. Swan road is a public rd now as someone is selling home lots in there. We are parked within 600' of the creek, but still a 120' drop down in there. We actually had a run in with property owner on Sunday. A discrepancy of about 100 yard. He had come down to chase us off, and I managed to smooth the event, apologize, thank him and shake his hand. He has no problem with us parking where we have been and walking thru his land, as long as we don't dig there or trash it. I think that actually helps our cause, as now I feel I can approach him and ask about using that lower road that parallels the creek. I don't even need to drive on that rd. I'd be happy as a clam if he will let us park by his outbuilding and walk in on level ground.
