Where to begin? I wasn't going to get out today. Thank God I did! My buddy and I got into a new permission and in the back of their property they cleared a big section of brush and trees. So we started out back. We found some decent stuff nothing crazy. Then I found a large cent, my buddy found a King George 1st copper. About 2 minutes after he dug the KG1 I dug a button. At first I though it was British. It looks like a crown in the middle. Then I saw rattlesnakes and counted 13 dots on top.

I didn't want to get too excited but when I got home and busted out Don Trioni's book Insignia of Independence. I was anxiously turning the pages until I got to the rattlesnake button section. Damn I just dug the best button I've found to date!! A Revolutionary War rattlesnake button!! Bucket lister!

This thread had me searching the net for the history on these buttons and its incredible to me they have been lost to time.

I would like to see them reproduced on hats, shirts, etc... to remind people of how and why our Great Country was created. Somehow incorporate the American flag, the button, some camo colors and a flintlock rifle crossed with a modern rifle

There is a Rattlesnake button thread on the My Best Finds Forum.

That's a good idea! You should start a company selling them. I'll be your first customer.:occasion14:

A big thank you to everyone for the banner votes!! It means alot!!

Congratulations on your 2nd Banner. Man you gotta love New England:))
Thank you! Although it's very expensive here in Connecticut I absolutely love the history around here. My mom lives in Tennessee and I get down there quite a bit and if it wasn't for there being a lack of early history I would've moved there a long time ago. But after I visit there and come home to nothing but stone walls and colonial houses I'm home...

Congratulations on achieving your second Tnet BANNER find in less than three months, amazing! :occasion14:

Research does pay off,
Dave
