Where to begin? I wasn't going to get out today. Thank God I did! My buddy and I got into a new permission and in the back of their property they cleared a big section of brush and trees. So we started out back. We found some decent stuff nothing crazy. Then I found a large cent, my buddy found a King George 1st copper. About 2 minutes after he dug the KG1 I dug a button. At first I though it was British. It looks like a crown in the middle. Then I saw rattlesnakes and counted 13 dots on top.

I didn't want to get too excited but when I got home and busted out Don Trioni's book Insignia of Independence. I was anxiously turning the pages until I got to the rattlesnake button section. Damn I just dug the best button I've found to date!! A Revolutionary War rattlesnake button!! Bucket lister!

Not sure how I missed this post until now, but WOW! Fantastic find. Love the style of that particular button. Banner find!

Thanks for the banner nod!!!:occasion14:

Super happy for you! The rattlesnake button is right up at the tippy top of my button finds wishlist. The one you found is indeed very rare and a once in a lifetime find. Enjoy the high of this find and just take a look at it when you’re feeling down or wishing you could go detect. You will feel better immediately....BANNER for sure

Thanks you so much!! I have to say i get goosebumps looking at it. for years the Massachusetts tree coin is tops on my list. I didn't even have this on my bucket list because i never in a million lifetimes thought i would find one!! also thanks for the banner nod!!!:occasion14:

Yep I am on the Banner band wagon for this fantastic save!!!

That’s an awesome piece of history, what a save. Congrats. Voted banner.

So i want to do a quick update on the button. So i can't find much on it. But I was contacted by someone who found one awhile back. he's been following this button for years and he said that this is only the 5th known button of this variety. So this button is so much more rarer than i thought. to think there's only 5 out there is mind blowing to me!!!:occasion14:

One of five of something and it’s in your collection incredible buddy

Banner time!

This thread had me searching the net for the history on these buttons and its incredible to me they have been lost to time.

I would like to see them reproduced on hats, shirts, etc... to remind people of how and why our Great Country was created. Somehow incorporate the American flag, the button, some camo colors and a flintlock rifle crossed with a modern rifle
