The best way to prevent condensation, is a vapor barrier on the warm side of your insulation. That keeps the moist air from entering the wall and condensing when it meets the cooler outside temperature. Relatively cheap, works. Just make sure it's just behind your interior wall and ceiling covering. Drywallers don't like it because it's harder to glue, but it has worked fine for me. GL

May I add to this? Don't do it twice. Get unfaced insulation if you feel you will install the vapor barrier yourself.

To bad I'm not there limit,I use to build foundations and footings.

I'm helping pour a Monolithic slab in a few days. I would much rather do finish work!

Hey Limit! Why don't you just remodel your shop?
Are talking about this kind of metal roof?
Interlock® Lifetime Metal Roofing Systems - Never Re-Roof Again. Or these? Residential Metal Roofing Resources | Metal Roofing Alliance | Metal Roofing Information

Hey Viking... I can't revamp my present building. It goes with the property I have for sale (and that's my main conflict). My dad and I build this present building together. He said when he moved here "I want a much better building than I have now son." So I gave him 8 acres and built him a 40' x 28' x 10' barn along with their home. Dad passed... mom moved back "home" (MI.) and I have property now. My residence is 250 - 300 yds. higher upon ridge. So if I want a workshop (DO) I now have to build a new one and move all the equipment.

Your second link is closer Viking. I just DON'T WANT CHEAP METAL THAT FADES OVER 10 YEARS. Theirs also not enough room to "revamp" old building even if possible. I just want regular "vertical" roofing from base to peak with proper vapor barrier. Dave44 gave me some great advise.

And Red.... Damn if I wouldn't send you the funds and wine and dine ya to get you here (as many other T-net friends). But we all got lives to live and family first. Thanks for the advise friends... Brad

I should have added that cutting sheet goods can be a bit more difficult with a 10 ft ceiling? Setting up a trolley and winch, standing up some materials, Ductwork for a dust extractor, Many many things, for a workshop.

Well that Interlock is lifetime, but costs! ALOT! I'am as we speak...installing a roof using PVC roofing membranes, hot air welded. Best option for an older mobile home. Pics to follow. But, that won't help you.

Just go with shingles, That's what I would do. Architectural Roofing Shingles (some) have a lifetime warranty. Heavy as hell but I'm not carrying them up the ladder! That's what forklifts, scissor lifts and/or Roofing Conveyors are for! While your at it have a look at Gable & shed dormers....if you're starting from scratch, or a trussed loft conversion. Gives you a usable 2nd story....
Don't worry Red, I have bolt cutters....and a compound miter saw that will bring tears to your eyes!!:headbang:
My contractors license is only valid in Oregon...so Limit You need to send me the requirements needed for me to secure a TN license!:laughing7:

Just wanted to share something with you all. I installed a wood stove in my house and plan on heating my home with it this winter. Built 3 racks and been stacking wood on my back patio in preparation. I have one of those "car port" shelter tents covering the wood piles. Got myself a nice maul and have been splitting, sorting, and stacking on weekends.

Get yourself a fan or two and keep them running, ceiling fan is good too.If you dont circulate the air the warm air will raise and stay there, your feet will be cold and your head will be sweating.:laughing9:

ain't been here in awhile, still sick pretty bad..never had a high fever for this long before. not sure what the hell I'm sick with but just dealing with it, world ain't gonna wait around for me..as long as I don't start bleeding from my eyes I ain't worried.

BC

PS found something for all the patriots out there, time is near to do what we gotta do. not sure if y'all have seen it, but I sure as hell love it!

BC I ran a fever of 104 for 3 days never found the cause other than a virus.

Well last week I had visited a urgent care, they did a throat culture, said was negative but would send to a lab to be sure, 3 days later call me tell me I have type a strep throat. so put on stronger antibiotic..has not worked, here I am all these days later. I go back to UC this morning, said they were about to call me..I'm like wut ? why ? were telling me that the lab called back again and told them a unknown to them type of bacteria is growing on the strep culture ?? told me to go to a ER..I'm like umm wut? then asked me which hospital my insurance is through..which is death valley, I'm like why do you need to know ? told me they would call them and tell them I'm coming, and to relay what their lab said...

well you know me, my paranoia hit overdrive...I ain't going to no ER..nope! come what may.

PS did you watch that video ? please watch it! my kind of guys, time is on us for action..sign my butt up..time to visit major Weldon!

BC

Mike go to the ER.....

Mike go to the ER.....
I agree, go now. They really are not trying to get over on you. If the antibiotics didn't work yet you are definitely sick with something else.

Having a fever too long isn't good.

Mike, don't let it get worse. See the E.R. while time allows you to be involved rather than too late for you to communicate.

Congrats J.B.. Keep that pipe/chimney clean, including the use of seasoned wood.
I miss wood heat. One of the best accessories I used and gifted to other stove owners was a thermometer that sticks on the stove pipe to keep tabs on the operating temperature. For the sake of efficiency and to not generate excess creosote.

I am using the "ping" method for determining dry wood plus testing with a moisture meter. Additionally I have an IR thermometer that I use to test my stove temps.

Thanks Viking.... I have the roofing guns and have laid the heavy roofing shingles before. Their on my resident roof now (2nd roof). THEY ARE HEAVY... RIGHT!!! I could build this entire building myself if I had too. I hurt my back awhile back and just want someone to come in and stud it up. I'll wire, plumb and finish. I probably don't have the miter saw you got... but I do have 3 12" Dewalt pull through saws and a 12" belt drive table saw among other saws.

I was "thinking" about a metal roof but don't want the condensation within. And if I knew what to do (in shop) I'd like to contract out the new building AND my present residence roof also so I'm done for "life". Still "thinking".... Power company came out and we had a great conversation. VERY DOWN TO EARTH GUY... He's now on the camping list venture with all of us!!!!!!!!!!
