As you may have read, I catched something and was most of the day in bed sleeping and now I can´t - at 3.20 in the night.

Luck! Wife makes coffee two hours before she goes to bed so I have a nearly fresh one

To be honest, the gallon ginger tea I´ve taken away a minute ago was warmer as this "fresh" coffee

May more sugar will fix it LOL

When I was younger, ( still younger than Bill ), I did not drink coffee either. Now that I am older, ( still younger than Bill ), I developed a taste for coffee. But, coffee has no affect on my sleeping. It just smells so good. Kinda like cigars and pipes. I can't stand to smoke, but the aroma from a good cigar or pipe is just amazing, or maybe it is because it reminds me of my dad and my paternal grandpa.

I like the aroma from cigars and pipes too but only smoke cigarettes.
You have the same illness as me! Coffee has also no affect on my sleep as well.
Crazy thing, as much I love and drink coffee, there are some days when I smell it in the morning I could simply puke. No idea where this comes from. This is rare but happens sometimes and I feel real bad when I smell it.

No. Normal tea based on black tea makes me also puke. There is something in it my stomach can not handle. I can drink it with milk without any problems but thats not my taste.
I can drink the turkish cay without any problems.

I made a tea of fresh ginger. It is good if you have a cold or fever. You can use the same ginger also many times. Just fresh hot water on it and and you get a new tea.

Burned coffee is also very bitterly - may that´s the reason. When I got problems with the smell, my wife mostly says later that the coffee tasted bitter. Who knows

There is also a very good alternative for coffee! Specially for a good start into the day:
