To folks like me and my family we do not know any other way of eating; junk foods and processed stuff with chemicals not only taste bad to us but after a life of living this way your body can not deal with even the smallest amount of poison.
My only serious thing I do that I should not do is I chew and dip; however it is all home grown and no chemical, cured but not fermented, all chopped, shredded or ground by me. Back in my Army days I was put down really hard about 3 years before my 20 and earning my 50% retirement. Spent a year getting better, in my 18th year I was medically retired at 100%. So that was nice, spent a good year though fighting hard and getting back in shape, hell with no chew in my system and fully recovered (even though the Army said it would never happen) I dropped my 150 mile cycle time down 61 minutes, and my 100 mile cycle time in a velodome went down even better. Pure beast, faster all around on road, track and especially in a velomobile. Normal weight lifting was fine. I was in better shape after my recovery than I ever was my entire career.
I started chewing again, not because I was addicted, or craved it...... Just because I liked it, and I had noticed the negative effect it had, but really I was still going harder and faster than I had before my retirement so I never worried about.
I do have one other thing that is bad actually; I will drink me a Cola once a year. Tab, generally speaking no matter where I am overseas or at home I always find me a Tab. But thats it, no booze of any sort, surely no dope, I am not a fan of medication and have not had any antibiotics since 2013 when I ended up with a puncture injury down range, it was only a precaution and only for 5 days, just did not want to risk it. Happened during an Op, and we even irrigated the heck out of the wound, but in the end what pushed me to take antibiotics was the fact that it swelled up as soon as it happen, we pulled the metal out right away, it had a really good healthy bleed, but during the irrigation the swelling went down a good amount, so I was just chickenshit thinking the worst that I must have something bad in me.
Do not get me wrong, I still eat plenty of grilled food or smoked foods, I just do it in a healthy manner and I eat a great deal of vegi, fruit and nuts too, certainly more than meats. But I know my body, so many people do not have a clue what their bodies are screaming at them, it is really sad.
But thats all good, world is over populated anyway.
My Interpol career I was very lucky and had an extremely healthy Team, heck some guys if you ask me where over healthy if that can happen. I knew healthy guys on Teams that where not all healthy and that really sucks. Healthy people have to be tolerant and put up with the nasty smells of fried food, fast food or what ever else like gallons of coffee or soda products. But as soon as we pull out our food, it smells like too much garlic or it smells spicy, its always something with them.
Those are the same guys you see at the range or on course firing their weapons all calm and relaxed with a low pulse rate and talking crap to everyone. Not me and my guys, we where training harder than what would get thrown at us and breathing out of ourasses and still on target with better times.
I still can not stand seeing someone in Uniform or providing selfless service that is a fatass, no matter how poor, how wealthy, how educated or uneducated you are I say good on you and thank you, but the fat ones, they need to remain in the office out of public eye providing service that way. Last thing anyone ever wants is showing up, it turns mobile and when it is said an done you are damn worried about what happened to porky, and no matter how many times it happens you never think that maybe he was just to fat to keep up, you always think the worst, so when you find him or her you are really pissed.
Just my thoughts on health, really when it comes down to it, health is a custom thing and a personal choice.
I have read there are no carcinogens in pure tobacco.
Been really getting health conscious last few tears.
Lost my taste for cake and desserts somewhere.
Very seldom drink-luckily never needed it.
What I dislike is seeing overweight cops, and you go to a doc and every one of these health professionals are overweight lol.
Although I got sepsis couple years ago through a cut in my foot and didn't know what going on until I was close to dead. They were giving me the stuff they use to treat anthrax
The silver lining was the nurses were white hot! Must have been a job requirement.
Unfortunately they only kept me a week. Next time I saw my Primary doctor I told him I lived in spite of the prayers of my family
