Made it through that squall.....mac island dead ahead 33 miles...
When in a Great Lake yacht race
With a squall wind blowin' in your face
And ridin' up with every wave
Its not the time to rant and rave
'cause you didn't get that BURMA SHAVE!

RR,

During colonial days life was hard. The men who worked the canoes during the fur trade days were given a small pouch of tobacco as part of their daily ration, 2 ounces of salt pork and 1 cup of dried beans. And these were guys paddling and portaging 8 to 12 hours per day.

They supplemented their meager rations by foraging, hunting and fishing along the way. And people today complain if they have to walk a bit of distance in the parking lot at the supermarket....:laughing7::laughing7::laughing7:

Last night, I tried a Civil War specialty. When the soldiers got tired of salt pork and hardtack, they would "acquire" some eggs, and mix them with some of the flour in their rations. They would then add salt or pepper depending on what they had, and fry it over the fire in grease.

I made some last night...it looked good...smelled good...but after eating it, it's a wonder how my ancestors survived through the war!

ECS,

You're a poet and don't know it but your feet show it because they're longfellows......:laughing7::laughing7::laughing7:

If you're at a Christmas Party
Don't be Laurel but be like Hardy
But if you get loaded and can't behave
and start acting like a knave...
You should have got that BURMA SHAVE!

off to go detecting

Man I love Dallas Ft Worth. Just spent 5 hours in Cabellas Shooting cross bow, looking at guns had an Elk Burger in the restaurant inside, Delicious. This is NOT California thats for sure!

There once was a member named ECS,
Who rhymed with such fancy finesse,
Though smart he was,
He couldn't continue because
Rhyming is a mighty long process!

There once was a woman from Tepai
Who loved a good roll in the Hay
For several doubloons
She'd show her Baboons
and give your skin flute a good Play...

Ban coming

Long day......one beat up wheat penny and a handful of not to great relics...got a boot heel in copper and then this sweet whiskey was pulled out of the bank where the high water exposed it. Better than nothing !!

That's an awesome bottle, Bart! 1880-1890 is my guess. Just a beautiful color.

I found two dimes, and a penny, all of them are clad. Be thankful for the beat up penny!

There was a member named Tom,
Who sat in the house of his mom,
so frisky he was,
for old ladies because,
The young ones were scared of a peeping Tom!
