I've got 3 trash cans to divide up my waste. General garbage, The biggest I put paper, cardboard, glass, plastic with the correct rerecycle codes, steel & aluminum cans in. The small one is all biodegradable compost and sure stinks in the summer. As for escaping methane at the landfill, they turn it into electricity. Here in Boulder County Colorado "we be green". We've got lots of hybrid and all electric cars running around also. Lately I've been seeing a Tesla about every other day it seems. One thing about those Tesla's they sure got some awesome looking acceleration. I've seen them hit-it at the stop lights and those things get up and boogie. Caterpillar has a product for landfill methanetamrock,
Yep so true....there's even some cities and towns who take the waste from garbage and sewage and produce methane gas to produce heat and/or electricity. Our municipality picks up organic waste and composts it and give it out to the citizens each spring for gardening free of charge.
