I have several counterfeits, but this one, found in Oct. of 2009, has the best detail.

only counterstamp I got this year was one of those headscratchers, found at an early acadian/loyalist site

I wouldn't be surprised if some of the British halfpennies I found this year were counterfeits as well

I can't say it's counterfeit but I have yet to get a good answer why it's so thin unless it is. Best I can tell it's a 1850 large cent with detail on both sides. Thinner than a dime. :icon_scratch:

Not including the few Roman ones I have, plus I gave my collection of counterstamped coins away to a collector about 3 years ago.
I also know I have had many counterfeit halfpennies & Shillings but never kept them.

Damn! You said you didn't have any Spanish. (or is it just a cob you're waiting for?) That 8 reale with the George bust counterstamp certainly counts. I'd be very happy with that. Is the detail good on the other side?

Also, the George III Farthing in the 2nd pic, is there much to see on the other side? I like those misc. silver too.

yeah, both as good on the other sides. The 8 is a fake.

I know it is, but contemporary isn't it? I think that's a great find.

PS... A couple years back I got a steal on one of those. (a real/silver one that is) The Seller listed it under Mexico thinking it was the proper place to put an 8 reale, and of course it is if there's no stamp. Anyway I couldn't believe I won it for $85. Two weeks later I sold it for $425.

yeah contemporary. I wouldn't mind a real one for the collection but they are pretty expensive with the countermark.. Did you know the saying at the time: "The head of a Mad man on the neck of a fool"
