Pirate Treasure-Trying to get a permit to dig up

Too bad you couldnt get a plug in for your book.

Nice article. With that big picture everybody knows where its at now. Another mistake: "Somebody posted that he and another guy had gone and dug." Only one person dug there and found the copper wire. They didn't even mention that someone dug there with a backhoe.

Backhoe boyz according to OP

I'd like to hear about the burial grounds. Dont remember that being mentioned.

People believe what they read in the paper. I would imagine treasure seekers will be digging holes at the site.

Salvor 6- According to the skeptics and some experts, there is nothing there but a bunch of junk if anything. I guess I and anybody connected with me, have nothing to lose. What difference does it make now showing a picture? I have also been told repeatedly that I will NEVER be allowed to dig. I have also been told repeatedly that if there were something found, I would get none of it. Maybe I have decided that I no longer care about it. Why fight a losing battle? Maybe I will drive by someday soon and there will be nothing but an empty hole. All the modern day pirates have advised me on how I should have done it. If some of the officials want to allow what ever is there (just trash if anything, right?) to be dug up, I would like to know about it, otherwise I am going to concentrate my efforts elsewhere. I was interviewed for the article many weeks ago. I am glad you thought it was a nice article.

BCH-The treasure seekers won't know where to dig unless one of the people involved tells them. That obviously could happen. Maybe I should have never shown anybody.

vor-The FDOT officials stated that there was an Indian burial mound somewhere in the area. I told them there was also two six lane highways in the area and that I was not interested in digging in the middle of the highway or an Indian burial mound so what difference does it make.

I have learned a lot from this episode. I am not in the mood for a long post but I will post more about it soon.

I

What difference does it make?
"Somewhere in the area", or "nearby" to quote the reporter, is a relative term. But if it is close enough that there is a chance that you may be digging in sacred Indian burial grounds then it would have a huge impact on the state's (and the reader's) opinion as to whether you should be allowed a permit.
It is far more pertinent to the thread than flaming guitars, cars and methane tricks on stage and I would have thought that you would have disclosed this early on.
Last nail in the coffin.

Now if it the burials were 1/2 a mile down the river, that would be a different story.

vor-I discussed early on about the reasons they were denying the dig, one of them being the burial mound. As I never told them exactly where I wanted to dig and they never told me exactly where the "sacred Indian burial mound" supposedly was it was not the real issue. How far from a burial mound would the state let someone dig? 50 feet? 100 feet? 200 feet? Oh thats right, they won't let any one from the general public dig ANYWHERE on state land. I actually believe that IF the mound even exists, they destroyed/covered the burial mound when they built I-75, but that is just a guess. The bottom line is that I believe there is no burial mound even close to where I wanted to dig so it truly is irrelevant. If it was such a big concern to them there would not be restaurants, motels and more 'nearby' as well as an interstate highway going right through the location. I would never willingly disturb an indian mound whether it was a burial mound(bodies) or a midden mound(trash).

Don't know who they are but got the info here:

I do want to thank "Jeff the two armed bandit". I also want to thank "The Backho Boyz". Both of these activities are a crime. This is state land. This is part of the Federal Highway System. This spot has now officially become a crime scene. I will now use my connections to have a thorough CSI event here. CSI investigators don't need a permit from the state archeologists. CSI investigators don't need a permit from the FDOT. There is possibly "stolen goods" buried at this spot. The local authorities need to dig it up to see where it came from.

I would have to agree. They probably destroyed any burial mound. In the past the shell from Indian mounds was used to build roads. Things are different now and it could be another problem.. (the last nail....)

If the Indians catch word of it, it could be a big problem, even if they are not the same tribe. Think of the Miami Circle. But there may be no burial ground left at this site after construction, if there ever was..

vor-Nobody from that group was caught in the act and no one seemed to care about it. As far as pirate treasure being stolen goods, the statute of limitations ran out a long time ago.

ECS-Please enlighten us on what you think the intentions of the reporter were. As a side note the article that ran in the paper that was put above mine was about fruitcake. Coincidence?

LOL BDD you have a sense of humor but I think it was coincidence. Oops that didnt come out right.

It was a very nice article with a very nice picture that portrays you in a good way and even put in a plug for your book. It doesnt really talk about LRLs and dowsing in a negative way.

Have you driven by the site? Is there any activity frrom curious readers?

B.D.D. .article not to bad, always a risk of misquotes and worse. We in America don,t celebrate our eccentrics like others but seem to like a little in driven people. You came out just right in my humble opinion. May help in future endeavors as well. Best part of it seemed to be your being confident in your choices of where and how and your desire to keep it aboveboard.

BCH-I drive by the site multiple times a day partly because it is not far from my house and is on the way to most places that I go. I have seen no unusual activity, but the roaches and rats of the world usually come out at night. I don't really think very many people if any are going to take it all seriously enough to do anything about it. I also think that there are spiritual forces at work here to protect things but of course seeing as how I am crazy that is to be expected. I think the karma with the Miccosukee's is very good and I am going to work in that direction. They want to work with me instead of against me as our Government employees are doing. I am going to go with the flow instead of swimming against the tide.

releventchair-Thanks. The only real big misquote was me saying that I am "positive" there is silver buried at that exact spot.
