old button???

Hi,
I found that today, on an old home site. I also found 2 musket balls in the same area.
it's bronze and look like a button... but is it really one, and what kind?
the diameter is 0,866 inches (22mm)

I think it is a tack, maybe used on a piece of furniture. But, it is relatively large for a tack, almost as big as a quarter. Surely someone else here will add their thoughts to this item.

I would say furniture tack too. I have a Spanish Colonial chair that dates 1650-1720 and the tacks are almost 2 inches across.

Agreed. Upholstery tack. 1"+ nail heads aren't uncommon at all.
