Good morning all. This was my grandfathers early 20th century Gold nugget stick pin. The weight is 3.8G is there any added value for it being a vintage stick pin. Thank you.

I’ll be the first. The added value is that it was your grandfather’s.

Completely priceless compared to a nugget that has identical looking brothers and sisters located all over the place.
(omit reference to truck drivers and traveling salesmen)

I’d lay a bet he found that nugget.

So true on first comment lol. He did travel around a lot. Heck you might be right he could of found it in 1922 on the North Fork of the Salmon River while fishing he's on the left.

great picture. By the look of his ears he must have been 67ish in that photo?

The 1920’s were a great period in the US.

I wouldn’t ever consider selling that pin.

Problem today is finding family to pass it on to that won’t just sell it for a fishing trip without a second thought.

Theres a few natural gold nugget stick pins online with some hefty asking prices. I'd say it's worth maybe in the $500. to $700. range as it's similar to this one i found with an asking price of $690. Antique jewelry made of natural gold specimens is rather collectible. I was able to score a gold nugget stick pin for a song in a thrift store. The nugget on mine was attached to a pin salvaged from a goldfill pin and a faceted dark blue stone was set in the center of the nugget. I've always thought it was a nugget found by some old prospector who decided to have a local somewhat talented jeweler make a stick pin out of his prized find. I still don't know what the blue stone is. Maybe a Montana sapphire the prospector also found and that leads me to think the nugget was a Montana find possible 🤔

Thank you tamrock for that info. Your gem stone sure looks like a Sapphire. I just wish I had more info on my dads side of the family. I have a hand full of photos and just word of mouth of his Mom & Dad. I got one cool photo of my great Grandma. Again thank you.
