Nexus Standard MKII vs Garret ATX? Which is deeper?

Another awesomely horrible analogy! You ALWAYS gravitate toward the most expensive is better. It's just not so. How does a the Lambo/Ferarri handle off road conditions? Mud & Snow? What kind of gas milage do they get? Different tools for different situations. Same as detectors! I'm sure you're even capable understanding that.

BTW, I've driven a few Ferraris and Lambos (along with several other exotics). While the Ferraris I drove are brilliant track cars that's where their brilliance ends. They do ONE thing well. ONE! The Lambos were pure garbage everywhere. And since we're at it and you want to bring up high dollar cars as benchmark, the same or BETTER road & track performance can be had by cars costing less than half as much! FACT!
FELLA. IT IS NOT ABOUT PRICE. IT IS ABOUT THE VERY LIMITED AVAILABILITY OF NEXUS THAT IS THE REASON WHY NOT EVERY DICK HEAD IN USING ONE.

THEY CAN NOT BE MADE IN LARGE QUANTITY.

CAN YOU NOT READ AND STOP TWISTING MY WORDS TO SERVE YOUR SMALL ASS PURPOSE.

THE NEW NEXUS MKII I HAVE CAN DO A LOT MORE THAN ANY OTHER DETECTOR I'V TRIED, IT JUST DOES NOT HAVE A DIGITAL SCREEN.

DO YOU GET THE MEMO?

I try to keep an open mind and believe everyone has something to offer and was enjoying everyone's post until you made
it personal.

Why do you feel the need to insult Americans with your snide remark, it's uncalled for and childish. I'm sure you are capable of having a debate without stooping to a lower level.
I am not insulting anyone here, but punching the bollox that certain detectors are so good and I have them, and they are not, and they happen to be US made is the reason why I said that.
In present days made in the US is not what it use to be. So stop defending brand as they are your own. It is just a detectors, some are better some are worse.

I'M NOT THE ONE WHO MADE THE ANALOGY SLICK! YOU DID!

See, I can yell too!

Dang it man! Calm down. I favor a machine built in Malaysia, but engineered in Australia. You know the whole global economy thing that will end up being our downfall, since all that's left are service jobs in this country.

I'm not xenophobic in the least bit. We're REALLY trying to offer what the real world detecting experiences are like, but you get hostile when we do so and tell us it is impossible bullox.

Yes. Because I have in my hands all these detectors and have the unique opportunity to compare them side by side.
On the other hand you guys have not even touched Nexus, but bloody insist on some opinions.

On what grounds I wonder?

Tomorrow I am going to a big metal detecting event in Bulgaria, Lovetch town. I currently reside in Romania so no big deal for the driving, probably a couple of hours apart from border crossing which is a big piss out here. There will be many detectors subjected on public test by the BMDF (Bulgarian metal detecting federation). There also going to be a lot of videos done by many participants.
Only in a couple of days now you will have the opportunity to see all sorts of tests, done to all sorts of detectors all compared head to head according to well established rules.
I am going to make sure that you see everything as clear as possible.

Beyond that I will make no further comments on the matter as it will be pointless to continue.

Here is a link to see some preparations for the public tests.

I can not post the link. Perhaps someone can help???

But you didn't even get this analogy right, genius. If I was suggesting the more expensive is better, as you say, which I never did, the Garrett ATX was going to be my favourite for been the most expensive in my list. Well it isn't.
So fix your brain (if you have any) and get those analogies right, smart ass.

And the capitals were not yelling, silly boy. It became obvious that some of you here are either blind or can not read literally what's written. So I decided to get it bigger for you to see better.

Precisely my point.
Nexus is cheaper and way better and deeper than ATX and CTX.

No one was defending a brand because it was made in the USA. Plus your comment made no mention about anyone defending made in the USA MD...you took it there , no one else. They were debating the technology not American brands against other brands.

I was reading your posts and never said anything and was actually enjoying them until you made your snide comment "Wake up from this "I am a proud American" tale .

Here's your comment.

Wake up from this "I am a proud American" tale and look into the reality, because reality makes no difference between brands, but only between performance level.

If people don't agree with you just debate and come back with proof instead of getting argumentative and acting like a truculent child.

You destroyed a good thread !

You destroyed a good thread !
No my friend. It wasn't me.
You see one thing I have noticed it goes on all forums.
You can not simply praise anything that you like unless is very popular. If you do so there are worms like Fella and similar that come repeatedly and challenge the tread in any way possible until it drowns in misery.

So Fella twisting continuously my posts is a holly man, right?
This is how treads get ruined. By childish bollox up and down.

And you know what? The guy who opened this thread asked which one is deeper, the ATX or MkII.
Well it appears I am the only one here that owns both detectors.

Why you guys simply don't let me speak?

Ok, I'm done goofing on ya!

Carry on!

My final report to this tread.
Today I was again on the rally event in Lovetch, Bulgaria.
Funny enough i didn't even have to pull out my Garrett ATX as some other guy have been testing it against Nexus MkII on the test pit.
The MkII was with dual 6" coil.
There were two coin tests, one at 12" and the other at about 16-17", the guys said it was 43 cm dept.
The Nexus detected with a good signal some BG coin about an inch big from the communist era at 12". The Garrett did not produce any signal at all.
On a English Victorian Penny that I had with me the Nexus had a loud signal at 12" and the garret did not made a signal again. The Garret was at full sensitivity and disc on 1.

The Garrett was clearly not the choice for deep coins, at least not at 12".

Some metal detector expert from Bulgaria have air tested the Garrett extensively with all sorts of metals, hot rocks, magnets. I couldn't make any sense of those measurements as he call them, but he seemed to know what he was after.
What I saw and had difficulties to believe was a 12" big round aluminium dish that the Garrett was detecting with Iron check at only about 18" in air and yet it was detecting large Iron parts much better. Crazy.
It seems high conductivity metal targets are not favoured by PI machines after all.

The Garrett did exhibited excellent discrimination at all disc levels. I would say way better than Minelab GPX's, but my finding got confirmed again. The ATX is just not the big gun for deep stuff.
Nexus is designed specifically for this purpose.

Isn't Lovetch, Bulgaria where NEL coils are manufactured. I love the 13" Ultimate on my Sovereign GT! It is very deep seeking and sensitive to small targets.

Sounds like Nexus dominates everything out there.

NEL are from Ukraine. Far away from Bulgaria.
And Nexus doesn't quite dominate everything. It has flaws, like every other gadget made by man.
Dept and discrimination are best in Nexus as far as I could see by now, but at a price. There are better detectors for heavy mineral conditions than Nexus for example. Nexus can work there, but far from peak efficiency.

If I have to be honest the ATX discrimination did impressed me as much as Nexus, but it is too slow to go over every target with Iron check. Other wise is hell good at every setting.

I meant Detech not NEL sorry had a brain toot.

Detech are from another town, Shumen. That is about 150 miles away. Detech have been making coils that only prove the lower quality of detectors delivered by the big boys in the business. Other wise what job would have been there for companies like Detech.
I got now the V3i that's real misery with the standard coil. Someone on the BG rally have told me about a guy from God knows which bush in Bulgaria that successfully manufactured much better coil for V3i. So I'll be looking for him.
