got a chance to start detecting a new site from the 1750's.beautiful colonial house that's been empty for a couple of years.started in front of the house and within 10 minutes i found the 1841 half dime so things look promising.not even 5 minutes later i got a strong quarter signal and up come the 1792 reales which really got me excited.went over near a large old tree and near the base another strong quarter signal.shoot, only a 1875 seated quarter.just kidding!i then ended up around the back of the house where i found the rest of the coins.the new jersey copper was found first in the back.look at the mistruck plus it was holed.still a strange looking copper.maybe a counterfeit?in the back is where i started to find the bar metals that looked to be colonial, maybe revolutionary.here in salem co.the local militia fought against the british.i really like the brooch that has the scene of a fence with windmill and treesthe last coin i found was the pristeen, did i spell it right.was one of the best days of metal detecting i ever had.enjoy the pics.

:o OH MY GOODNESS! :o WHAT A HUNT! :o

Those are some spectacular finds, PM! No telling what else you'll find there! I bet you were doing the happy dance for quite a while! :D

Nana :)

thanks for all the great reply's.it was really a thrill almost surreal hunt.you don't find many sites like this to hunt and be one of the first to hunt it.the date on the side of the house is 1729 and the brickwork is unreal.the intials on the side of the house are RSS.i will try to get some pics of the house and some history.i agree with Don on the pin or brooch, its my favorite find.will try to clean it a little better to get more detail out,any suggestions?i also thought the bar medals where great, never found any before in nj.i will be making another trip this weekend to this house so be on the lookout for more finds.

the JFH coin is a mystery to me.maybe a canning house token and i even thought about John Fenwick who is the founder of the city of salem nj in 1678 but who knows.

Spent some time looking at the NJ copper and it appears to be a 1786 Maris 17-K variety, the reverse was double struck it appears. The variety is a rarity 4 (Very Scarce). I checked my survey and that is the third 17-K identified so far in the survey of ground founds, the other two came from Montclair County. Just glad to get an ID on it, luckily the Reverse side (shield side) showed most of the letters and shape of the top of the shield and that was enough for me to get the ID on the coin. So, now you have a year and variety to go along with it being a NJ copper. :)
