Problem is that he will have to act like a right wing extremist nut job to win the primary. Same thing happen to Romney. He was a fiscal conservative / social moderate but had to act extreme to win the repub primary as everyone criticized him for not being conservative enough. He won the primary but lost the moderate vote. He could have easily won the presidency if he didnt have to change his beliefs to win the primary. Sad but true. As long as the party is dominated by extremists we will not take back the presidency.

Although he does not understand extremism, if the Republican Party was mostly conservative, and a large portion of the country is, then a truly conservative candidate would do very well!

Personally I would boot the so called " religious right" put of the party and let them do there own thing. It's just completely fringe and frankly embarrassing when you have folks still espousing anti science, anti gay, blaming women for rape, etc, etc. we already have people doing this - they are called the Taliban. Head on over to Pakistan and Afghanistan.

Hopefully the tea party will split from these people and focus on fiscal responsibility and leave religion and people's personal lives out of government. Just my 2 cents.

It's not being monitored by secret gov agents, its not swaying the hearts and minds of millions, it is not determining national policy, the fate of the world is not being determined. The vast majority of us are having fun and learning by trading info, thoughts and ideas.

I think you will find many of the folks on here are quite intelligent, wise and knowledgable about what is going on in the world. And many of us are wise enough to have very open minds to new ideas and opinions. Just because someone does not believe in your opinions does not mean they do not know what is happening - correct. But frankly why concern yourself with someone else's beliefs or knowledge? And why get upset about it. Everyone can share and you can choose as an American citizen to believe whatever you want. That is your right. I hope you can find some enjoyment and happiness.

You pump your own gas?


We could pump our own gas, but we don't have to! We have people who pump it for us and we still have prices among the lowest in the country.

I think its mostly about protecting the attendants jobs. How many attendants are there In NJ? Then the law is passed that we can pump our own gas, how many on unemployment? Good thing we refine a lot of oil in the state or our prices would be real high. Today 6/3/2013 I paid $3.19 not to shabby. NYS state border is 5 miles away and its on average 50 cents more per gallon.

I hope they get it. I'm afraid they are off in their own little world and not taking responsibility for the terrible campaigns they've run. We havnt had a solid platform to speak of in years. It's very difficult to name ten solid issues that the party has created as opposed to just being against a bunch of things.

I was hoping that the tea party was just going to hammer away on fiscal responsibility but even they have been infiltrated by extremists. The IRS targeting scandal is giving them one last shot before they fade away - I hope they take advantage of it.

It is sad because Romney could have been easily elected if the primary process didnt yank him to the right. He actually was really good when governor. He still got my vote, but it was obvious it was a lost cause.

And if by some chance she is the candidate it will only be pure republican incompetence if they can't field a candidate and create a platform to best her. It should be a piece of cake. Of course this last election should have been a lay up given the economy / unemployment rate etc. but the repubs offered nothing except vote for us because you don't like the other guy.
