After yesterday's great barber half find I was going to take a break today but the detecting bug woke me up early and said lets go, and sooooo glad I did. I have found many rings over the years but not any that I can really brag about, till today! Was going to head to my barber lot when on my way there I took a different route about 5 minutes away from it. Passing thru a neighborhood that dates back to the early 1900's when I seen one of the homes had recently been tore down and a empty lot was screaming at me to stop. After a very slow start and a few wheats and a mercury dime later I was thinking, not as good as I thought it was going to be, than bam! A strong 81-82 on my At pro, dug down about 4" when I seen it, still not sure what I had till I picked it up and realized I found my best ring ever. Looks from the style to be from the 1920's, Amethyst and diamonds and is 10k marked. Taking to Jewelers this week for cleaning and appraisal. I am one happy guy.

They don't usually put high end stones in low end gold. 10k Gold is only 41% Gold. Your more likely to find real valuable stones in 14K+ Gold (58% Gold or higher).
Still a beautiful ring and a great find, not a $20,000 ring from 1860. Still a very pretty ring and at least 10k Gold, great find !!

Keep @ it and HH !! :hello2:

thanks for the comment, guess some previous appraisals on rings has got me all over the place, few years back had a nice 18k ring checked if the main setting was a diamond ended up being CZ, while on the other hand a family ring passed down that was 10k had a 1.5 carat diamond setting. Go figure. Either way it was a thrill diggin it up and doubt I will ever dig one up like this again.

Even if its not the $10,000 ring, its a great find and exciting :)

So seriously you jewelry experts out there, what do you think of the stones and is there anyway I can check if they are real diamonds? Wish I would of bought that diamond tester now, just dont find alot of diamond jewelry. Lol

I bet there's a pawn shop around that might give you the time of day if you walked in with it!

In my opinion this is the best looking ring from a design perspective that I have ever seen. Simply beautiful. A very nice deep purple amethyst too. I know you hope it is worth a lot, and I do too, but I don't think so. Either way it is an incredible find that you should be very proud of.

Come on Ray, you're in Vegas. Take that ring down to the Pawn Stars and let Chumley l@@k it over. :tongue3:

Congrats to you on one of the nicest rings I have ever seen. That ring is a BEAUTY!!!
I hope it's the real deal. It needs to be riding the Banner Train up above.
