After yesterday's great barber half find I was going to take a break today but the detecting bug woke me up early and said lets go, and sooooo glad I did. I have found many rings over the years but not any that I can really brag about, till today! Was going to head to my barber lot when on my way there I took a different route about 5 minutes away from it. Passing thru a neighborhood that dates back to the early 1900's when I seen one of the homes had recently been tore down and a empty lot was screaming at me to stop. After a very slow start and a few wheats and a mercury dime later I was thinking, not as good as I thought it was going to be, than bam! A strong 81-82 on my At pro, dug down about 4" when I seen it, still not sure what I had till I picked it up and realized I found my best ring ever. Looks from the style to be from the 1920's, Amethyst and diamonds and is 10k marked. Taking to Jewelers this week for cleaning and appraisal. I am one happy guy.

Ok that's it....I'm voting BANNER! If I had found that ring I would change my screen name to thrillathafind :tongue3:

Banner vote just in.

Wow!!!! Thanks....I really, really appreciate that. And believe me I am still high on adrenaline from finding it. Thanks again!!!

Whew!!! What a beautiful ring, the craftsmanship is just awesome! I suspect you may revisit that site again and again...Smile....My wife and I, my daughter and her son, our 14 yr old Grandson revisited an area my wife and I have searched several times. My Grandson pulls out of the ground a 1914 Barber Quarter about 7 inches down with his AT Pro....then a 1942 Silver Washington at about five inches, my wife then gets a reading, she digs and digs and digs, nine and half inches later, she finds an old 1930's toy truck, cast iron type, pretty good shape, made by Tootsie Toy Company, Chicago, Ill.....they all found wheat backs, new coins, I walked away with two wheat backs after hunting for six straight hours...Smile....But, I know, we all have days like that. Been detecting since 1973, so I'm aware good days are still ahead.....Would sure LOVE to find a ring like you've found....Keep Digging! From the Alamo City

that is one nice ring. you have a lot of diamond there.. how many times did you slap the dashboard of your car on the way home ? ;-) nice job bud.

Sounds like u have had quite a adventure yourself. Congrats, and yes I will be back to find any leftovers. Believe me its all I'm thinking about.

Fantastic find Ray!
But you're killin me, can't you find an after hours appraiser? Just get them out of bed? Lol

What a beauty! You´re a really lucky guy, congrats :occasion14:

Well just stopped by local jewellers and the appraiser is gone for a week to a convention. Arghhh!! So have to find time tomorrow to hit a different one. The good and bad thing is one of the jewellers took a quick look and said the band stones are not diamonds, not CZ but look to him to be white sapphires. And not sure on main setting but leaning to amethyst. So hoping for the best tomorrow. Keep wishing me luck.

Excellent ring. Congratulations.

Ray what can I say my man, that is a beautiful recovery. Great job buddy. That's what happens when you put the time in. You get a great reward eventually. You just got yours :-) hope you experience many more

Thanks Ahab, appreciate your comment. My worst fear is to find out the stones are fake. Everone here has been so supportive. Not only do I want to not let myself down I dont want everyone else let down also, man this has been a stressful 2 days. Either way hopefully will find out the verdict tomorrow. Thanks again everone for all your well wishes and support, it really does mean alot.
