Great story mi Major. Good to see you posting again, please keep it up.
When I was a kid, 8-9, I spent a week one summer with a Great Aunt & Uncle who lived in a small rural village (pop about 100). I remember going with them to visit Mr. & Mrs. "Doc" Dutruex (sp? do trow). No radio or tv, you sat around and talked. I had been taught that children were to be seen and not heard by people who meant it. I wish I could remember more. Doc was in his late 80's and sharp as a tack. He was a retired veterinarian and had been in WW1. I do remember hearing he watched the "Lost Battalion" march out. At the time it meant nothing much to be but Uncle Polly was impressed. As I remember he was a vet. as they had lots of horses. Thanks again for the stories and good luck.
