Misc data and adventures of a Tayopa treasure hunter

I would like to see his posts from other sites listed as well as they help to define Don Jose. But that may be an issue in posting the quotes from a competing website. Maybe at the end recognize those sites in a "Credit" section ?
If we can't, we all know the amount of posts he did here is vast and covers many topics.

that sounds fair and shouldn't cause any ripples with mods...
we will be able to talk and plan and change things as we go along....
i hope we get approved at some point. my fingers are getting sore...

we should all have our names attached to the thread any way or we won't know who to send quotes to for a different subject when they pop up.

keep 'em coming, but i may be out of touch for a few hours. Chiropractor!!\

does anyone have a base/Grand title to go before the identity part... Some way of showing what we will all be doing.???/?

the one that i made up while on the spot is not easy to figure out what it will be about toss some into the hat.

The Life Story of Joseph Curry The Man The Myth The Legend As Presented By Those Who Know Him...

Maybe we should use the k.i.s.s. system...

"Jose Curry a.k.a. Don Jose de La Mancha"

"Anecdotes of Don Jose de La Mancha a.k.a. Joseph Curry"

Join in ya'll...

Mikel,
A noble undertaking for sure.
One question: Are the quotes gathered to be found exclusively on TN threads or can they come from other Forums on which Don Jose has posted?
Sidebar: How about a 'Q and A' thread for this project?
I can't see any reason to have 'exclusivity' by anyone to a particular topic. I can envision a team effort wherein more than one TN members can seek out Don Jose contributiions on the same topic from TN entries (and other sources ??). All that would be necessary is to coordinate between 'team members' what each agrees to do--to omit overlapping research. An example would be to divy up the research by specific periods of years.
If this project goes forward, count me in on the subject of SHIPWRECKS.
Don.....

Don, I must apologize to you and everyone else!!!

I failed to read what you wrote above correctly about using other sites.

A grave error on my part. I completely missed where you wrote other sites.

I clearly can’t grant permission to bring quotes from any websites outside of TreasureNet.com.

If it had not been brought to my attention, this whole concept would have been destroyed.

As hard as our super moderator has worked on our behalf, this would have caused him a great embarrassment.

I hope that you can understand that I have been moving back and forth between posts and PMs all day and I read your post too quickly today and that you can see why the moderators could never be able to allow that part of your post.

The part about the exclusivity on a particular thread among TreasureNet.com members and subject parameters can only work from Jose’s posts here on TreasureNet.com

Our moderators can only protect us if we are in compliance with their restrictions.

I apologize to everyone that saw that and would have blindly followed my blunder. I should have read that more carefully.

And if that beautifully worded quote that you posted is from another website I cannot unring that bell, but I am sure that the mods would not approve it being reissued here.

I will be reading much slower from here out.

If not for one person noticing that and calling it to my attention, I would likely never realized that I had agreed to it.

And I hope that the moderators do not pull the plug on this plan, over my oversight, as I have asked them for more than they had agreed to, in order to make it work better for us.

I appreciate this being called to my attention before it was too late.

Sincerely
Mikel

some that i had mentioned [and certainly not limited to] were;
ww2 Navy, post ww2 airforce, general exploring, mule stories, and let us not forget TAYOPA! That one, I personally wish that ORO will take. He is as close to that story as Jose.

I am honored that you would consider me that way, however unfortunately I have a great deal on my plate already, and could not put the effort and time into it that would be required. Besides, I have never set foot at Tayopa, so only know anything through our compadre Real de Tayopa and reading about it.

On the posts on other sites, there should not be a problem to simply collect them up and send them to Don Jose, though not through this website. He would still get the benefits of having them for refreshing memories, without breaking the rules here. Just a thought.

Good luck on this project, I cannot speak for Don Jose but think he will appreciate the time and effort spent.

Gentlemen, a suggestion if I may. Correct me if I am mistaken, but it appears what you are attempting to accomplish is a Bibliography of all the works of our highly esteemed amigo, Don Jose, that he published here on Treasurenet. A huge and daunting undertaking, considering the volume of his material found throughout the forum. I think it's a Wonderful idea, and would benefit both the readers of the forum, and Don Jose himself, by gathering all his stories into a single place.

I highly commend you, Mikel, for suggesting it and for spearheading the project as you have. Thank you, my friend. :notworthy:

My suggestion. In order to preserve the content of his writing in it's entirety, without infringing the copyrights of either Don Jose, or Treasurenet; it is my thought that each post considered for inclusion should be treated as a Citation. In other words, cite the thread the post was made in, with a brief description and a link to that post. An example would be....

* Experience in Old China, circa 1960, B-26, hand grenade.

Open the bibliography with an Introduction, followed by Mackaydon's excellent quote. That's all I feel should be added other than the Citations. The citations themselves can be divided however you wish....by date, subject, etc....but the main point being the words are His, not ours. A collection of his works.

And I second Weekender's proposed title - Real de Tayopa, Joseph Curry: A Collective Bibliography

After all, who among us can put a title on a life well lived.

Just my two cents. I hear that'll buy a cup of sock coffee. :tongue3:

Thank you for checking back in. I know that you have a full plate also.
Weekender's Title choice struck me as the all inclusive and the limitations upon our collective abilities....

Please check in every chance you get.... you have represented the heart of what i have spearheaded. we cannot possibly build upon Jose's posts. they are all masterfully made, just as they are.

and check in on our common hero.... I'm sure that you have already.

hurry home.... we miss you.
