Misc data and adventures of a Tayopa treasure hunter

Ok, another story or two.
When my brother and I topped out of climbing Brown Canyon and before starting down into Ramsey canyon, we were sitting in the shade and watch a "Backpacker" come up from Ramsey. He asked us about the trail going out and we told him where they slpit and were each went. Now he was wearing a Tee shirt and shorts with his back pack in Arizona. We of course were wearing Levi's and long sleeve shirts for sun protection and cooling. After talking he look again at us and said, "You have got guns!"
Sure I said for snakes and the "Ten Foot Rule". "Ten Foot Rule?"
"If you see a wild animal that is within 10 feet, and you yell and stamp on the ground and it doesn't run off, you shoot it." (they are either Rabid or crazy with the heat, as normally when they know you know they are there they run off). "You would shoot bunnies?"
"If they don't leave, yes."
He shook his head and went on down the trail. I guess he had a good story to tell his friends later about the crazy guys out in the mountains. ;)

Down between Ruby and Arivaca Arizona, we ran into a Game Warden and he told us about them using a 6 foot spark plug wire for snake bites. They were to ground the back side of the area to the car and put the spark plug wire on the bite. The idea was to use the spark to break up the protean (?) molecule of the poison so it was no longer a poison. My brother who had a lot more chemistry than I did thought it should work. Easier than trying to keep all the different anti venoms for the different snakes in the area cold so they don't break down in the desert. That was in 1982.

, but how in the heck are you going to hold down the victim > IncidentaLLY, i USE SUPER GLUE FOR SUTURE USES, INSTEAd of SEWING UP, OR USING SURGICAL CLIPS FOR WOUNDS. mY oncology SURGEON SAYS THAT ThEY ALSO USE IT AT THE va in Tucson FOR MINOR SURGERIED.

You space the dots across the wound leaving it basically closed, but not sealed, in order that it can drain, not a continous line of the glue

Asingle use tube supplies enough for anything short of major surgery, making an extremely small package for your first id kit (keep several in your kit )

Well if it was the hand area, put the hand on the fender after starting the car with "new" spark plug wire and then put the end of the wire on the bite. Leg, sit on the fender and do it. With the cars now, there is no spark plug wires as such. No single coil. Don't think you can do it with the new cars.

HI au, f you are runnind a diesel no spark plug wire, for the modern electrical cirsuit, they have an intregal voltage amplifier at each cylinder, kind rough to get access to.the hi voltage.

Speaking of diesel... I just found out last night, that my daughter and family shared their condo balcony, while on vacation in San Diego with Vin Diesel!
Just sitting back and drinking beer.... Never acknowledging his stellar fame.
They never asked for autograph or for photo op.

We might have never known if I hadn't mention his name about the movie made in Rio

This lill story s dedicated to our long lost Unicorn.

I was temporily dedetached for narcotic investigation, my circuit was 12 Adler,Place on the internatiolnal settlement,.in San Francisco, It was a hot spot for narcotics and was origionaly a Lesbian hangout, but was gradadually being taken over bt the male homosexual crowd,

About the only way you could tell who was what was to observe which restroom they used.

Once I was suprised to find a very cute Blond using a urinal

I was allowed three drinks an evening, which I carefully nursed down at te end of the bar, next to a light bulb illuminated peanut vendor to keep the peanuts warm. One night a gentleman was getting some peanuts, and looked me straight in the eye and murmured " nothing I like better than hot nuts' ??? What could he have been referring to ??

I remember a sailor getting beat up for trying to take a cute lil blond away from a Butch. He stuck to the rules about no hits bellow the belt while she in no way was bound by the same rule, sheesh.

Anyway I wasn't wearing my issue offical police revolver with heavy 4" barrel in a shoulder holster, but had elected instead, for some reason, to wear my full sized S&W 357 in a belt holster, a clam shell, which is really quite fast.

LATER THAT NIGHT MY QUARRY CAME IN WITH HIS USUAL HANGER ONS, AND PROCEDED TO MAKE MERRY. i SOON JOINED HIM AND KEPT
THE PARTY GOING INTO FULL SWING WHEN i SUDDENLY FELT HIS HAND UNDER MY COAT SEARCHING AROUND MY LEFT ARM PIT, FEELING FOR A SOULDER HOLSTER, WHICH i WASN'T WEARING, HE MUST HAVE JUST MISSED MY BELT HOLSTER, BUT HE SEEMED SATISFIED AND PULLED HIS ARE OUT FROM UNDER MY COAT.

HIS MOVE CAUGHT ME BY SURPRISE AND IT WAS ALL THAT I COULD DO'TO KEEP MY FACE FROM SHOWING ANY EMOTION OTER THAN SURPRRISE.

MY REACTION RELAXED EVERY ONE, AND i WAS ACCEPTED.

iN THOSE DAYS I LOOKED LIKE THIS PICTURE OF ME AND COULD SUCESFULLY HIDE A BELT HOLSTER

WELL THINGS RAN THEIR NORMAL COURSE AND WE MADE A CASE ON HIM, AND SO ENDED MY CAREER IN NARCOTIC INVESTIGATION

P.S. THE LARGE PRINT IS FOR MIKEL'S BENEFIT, I HAD FORGOTTEN TO USE IT AT THE START, HOPE MIKEL WILL FORGIVE M E FOR NOT RETYPING

Seen it applied to a Brown recluse spider bite
with a 90 horse Evinrude motor. Run the wire,
crank the starter, keep applying the necessary amount
of painkiller ( Alcohol ) afterwards to relax the patient.
Small headache next morning,
Bite gone in about 2-3 days, no Dr visits, No Co-pay.

One can always use a capacitor. It stores a charge. When needed just touch to you.

ON MY TRIPS INTO THE WILD COUNTRY I ALMOST NEVER CARRIED ANY FSHING GEAR, I FOUND THAT IT IS VERY EASY TO CATCH TROUT FOR EXAMPLE, WITH YOUR HANDS,

yOU MERELY PUT YOUR HANDS INTO THE WATER UNTIL THEY ARE COLD THEN SLOWLY FEEL YOUR WAY UNDER THE ROCKS FOR A FISH, WHEN YOU FIND ONE HE WILLL MERELY MOVE AWAY SLIGHTLY, ALLOWING YOU A CHANCE TO SLOWLY MOVE UP TO HIS GILLS, THEN CLAMP DOWN.AND YOU HAVE YOUR DINNER
FOR SOME REASON IT DOESN'T FRIGHTEN THE FISH, UNTIL IT IS TOO LATE. I GUESS THIS IS WHY THE OTHER PREDITORS ARE SO SUCSSFUL.
.

i KEPT MYSELF IN TROUT THAT WAY UP AT THE FALLS AT BASASIACHI, THAT WAS THEN, IT HAS BEEN FOUND BY THE TOURIST TRADE AND EVEN SPORTS A SWISS CHALET TYPE HOTEL.

I told that on another forum years back and had a lady answer back to me.
She was allergic to Black Widow spiders and lived way out of town, no cell phone service and the phone line was down. Her car was in the shop and her husband was in town. She went to the garage and moving stuff got bitten by a Black Widow. Right hand between index and middle finger. She took a power supply for an electric train and put the 2 wires one on top of the bite and the other on the bottom side and turned it on. Did it like 3 times. Tough lady! When she started it was dime sized by the time her husband came home it looked like a mosquito byte (small). By the next day it was gone. Glad to hear about it working on the Brown Recluse. Those are nasty. Though about it when I was living in Texas though.

Jose, glad you started this one. It has had a lot of knowledge passed on by people here. Things that you and I think of as "almost" common sense, others have never heard of. I know I have learned a lot on this thread. Also noticed some of my FF's (Fat Fingers) after hitting Post. ;)

Hey guys love reading your stories only sad thing is i came across this page late but not too late.
Ive got a bit of a story about a friend and i.
We were on a treasure hunting trip trying to locate an old early settlers dock site. It was a warm and muggy sort of day. We had hiked for a few hours through scrubland and along muddy coastal banks. After a few hours we were starting to tire and get hundry. So pat and i decided to rest up and while we are there throw a couple of lines in the water to see if we can catch some lunch. Not long after pat got a good hook up and he brought the fish in. I cleaned it up and got the fire ready. But then we both looked at each other and said how we going to cook this we didnt bring anything. I said. Lets "Bear Grylls it" so i poked a nice stick right threw the mouth and out the back of the fish and hang it over the fire. It was cooling great. Flesh looking nice white and flaky when all of a sudden the flakyness gave way and the fish went into the fire. Only half cooked and no way to re stick the fish. I grabbed my allow army cup and though it may work as a small frying pan.
Well turned out we kinda just had a weird hard cooked fish soup kinda thing. It tasted alright though. And we did find the dock we were looking for in the end

OK this is for the "Old Guys, kinda".
Those of you who are coming up on one year before your SSA "Full Tenure Date". If it is when you are 66, you should file the day after your 65th Birthday. It will take 3 months for the first check to come in. By filing on your "Last year before full tenure" there are 2 things to know.
One, you will lose $100 a month forever.
Two, if you go over the "$39 K + limit, you have to pay back 1 dollar for each 3 dollars paid to you.
If you were to make $2100 per month if you waited, you will make $2000 per month for 9 months.
If over you will pay back $6,000 of the $18,000
That leaves you with $12,000 or you have been paid ahead for 10 years for the $100 lost. So when you are 76 you can say, "Rats, I'm loosing $100 a month now.
I know it works because I did it.
I ran lots of service calls at SSA local offices and at the National offices in Woodlawn, MD, and asked lots of questions when I was coming up on my 65th Birthday.
To me it was "Free Money". Once your Full Tenure date arrives, there is no longer a $39K+ limit.
Don't know if this was the best place to post this, but Free Money is always good in my book.
