Misc data and adventures of a Tayopa treasure hunter

One of the main reasons that I went out looking for years of vacations, was I had and still have a stressful job. When out in the hills, mountains, and deserts, and when all I have to worry about is getting back to base camp or motel alive. It puts everything back into perspective. It makes all the petty things that I worried about, go back to the small things that they are.
Don't misunderstand that I was not looking for an early retirement funds. LOL
But after a trip in the hills it was amazing how minor what I thought were life's problems actually were. When you risk yourself, life and health, job worries become small and petty. Family comes back to the fore.

A simple 'like' is not enough ... and I couldn't agree more!

Thanks Loke.
Every time I went out it was not for a "Thrill" (but I wouldn't have minded one with a bright yellow color), or an adventure, but I treated it as work. As work you think about the job you are on.
Makes you single minded about what you are doing. Watching where you are walking, loose rocks, snakes, ect. Looking at landmarks before and behind, so when you are tired and walking back you know which way to go.

When I track into unknown place to recon the area. I will carry these clothes pin with a reflective tape. That way It can be seen in both day and night. The reflectors are on both side for coming or going. Things change as the lights goes down.

Always a good idea to have emergency equipment when traveling in remote areas........too many unexpected events can happen.

That is a really good idea, Bob.
I have twist-ties that glow in the dark for several hours... Haven't needed them yet, but I think that I would use the clothespin idea to help me find my way back on my short trips.
I'm going to make a set before I go out again.

Thanks for sharing your idea.

Doc
I keep a (clean) large pizza box, folded to fit in my emergency kit, and a roll of Ductape.

You can cut and shape just about any splint and tape it in place. Even better, they don't have to remove them to
X-Ray at the ER.

Hi All. It's been a while since I posted anything. I have been really busy. I ordered a small drone to help cover more area, legs are not as good as they used to be. It has a range of 330 feet and has a camera and can take still pics and video. I have been practicing with it, it has a steep learning curve, but will save many steps in scouting once I get proficient with it. Flight time is only 8 minutes, but you can cover a lot of ground in that amount of time. It has lights for night time flying or investigations. After I get proficient with it I will purchase another battery for longer flight times. Good Luck. rockhound

Hi amigos...long time...something for the weekend..there seems to be something brewing in Peru related to Machu Picchu..check this TH story and saga...
Forbes Welcome

Use it in the early mornings if you have a lot of rock areas. They heat up and cause a "lot" of thermals that can cause you to have a really interesting time trying to keep it from crashing much less seeing anything that is of interest, other than the ground coming up quickly. LOL
