Lots Of Great Talent On This Forum..."WHAT DO/DID YOU DO FOR A LIVING?????"

Myself and my wife have been self employed contractors for Fire & Liability surveys for Insurance Companies for the last 23 years. I have been a Scout master, Certified Building Code Inspector (though never used it), Volunteer Firefighter & Fire Chief, Tea Party Leader and served on our County Republican Committee, and probably a couple others. Now in stead of giving my time as I did for years, I am now taking the time for myself swinging every chance I get and have a lot less stress because I have no expectations doing so.

Started out de-tasseling corn at 13, contracted with Pioneer seed corn the next year as rogue and de-tasseler. Started at 14 in plant genetics/wheat freeze resistance, worked in greenhouse and lab until 20. Quit academic full-ride scholarship to become a mason tender/hoddy. Worked up to head labor/forklift driver, got tools and learned to lay brick and block. Wanted to learn more, switched to framing carpentry. Started general contracting at 23, some great years as a builder, tilesetter, and bricklayer until the economy collapsed. Got stuck with spec home, lost business, nuclear family, sanity, went back to family ranch. Started growing a huge garden, turned into a truck farm, started blacksmithing as well. Now have three production greenhouses and help my lady's family with 40 acre truck farm, make rustic furniture and blades and hoes in the wintertime. Little boy turned one today, daughter visits in the summer and holidays.

MRI Technologist, and IT network engineer

Lots of different skills in freelance mode, doing design in CAD and all sorts of building projects, including design for other product development, wind power, agricultural projs.....etc

But the bread and butter comes from Work Bike design and engineering.

I build Prototypes here and send others into operation with my vehicles for promotions, event services, vending, transport, or for personal use.

I love to ride and we are gearing up this year to launch some more vehicles. The engineering put into the second gen Workhorse Trike is outrageous and can perform with massive loads on steep hills, which makes it optimal for services and better than any other personal use bike.

Here's a few shots of the coming age of alternative vehicles and trailers from my company Pedal Power Work Bikes

After high school I worked as a Stocker/Receiving Clerk for a major department store, while working there I also worked 6 months of the year, for three years, at a Colorado State Park. Then I moved on to being an Emissions Tech, then Q/A Emissions Tech, then a Supervisor for the same. Decided it was time for a change so I went to Retail Customer Service and became a Front End Manager in a short time. Stayed there for about two years, then the diesel bug got me finally, (as I have always like trucking) I hit the road. Drove everything from dirt buckets, tandem dump trucks, box truck, refer, expedite and was laid off as a chemical tanker driver about five years ago (spent over 13 years in trucking). Went back to college, earned a degree in Computer Networking and now work as a IT Professional for a convention center, theater district and float Tech for another center/NFL stadium. I also volunteer for a military museum restoring military vehicles and I am a Board Member for another military non-profit. Getting into M/D after lurking on this board for years and years. Now, I finally have the time to see if I can recover any history.

Retired disabled veteran. Now working as an executive assistant at a hospital.

Water treatment plant operator in the little town I live in for the last 7 years. Before that, a machinist at Martin Sprocket & Gear for 2 years(too hot for me), before that I sold pre-fab metal buildings for @ 15 years. Had a little oilfield mixed in here and there also. Born in '72, graduated hs in '90. I have a wife and 2 girls, 11 & 6...neither of them are interested in detecting.

I started metal detecting as a kiddo thanks to an insatiable curiosity about my surroundings, which drove my mother crazy (hence the detector to keep me nearby digging holes!) In high school I obtained an EMT certification and worked at our county hospital, later taught phlebotomy for a number of years before becoming a biologics pharmaceutical inspector for the Department of Health of the United Kingdom. After deciding to return to school, I needed money in a bad way my junior year, so I applied and received a grant to attend police academy and here I am. I am now assigned to the Criminal Investigations Division.

That's quite a variety of high end careers you sought!

Lots of different jobs here. Worked a convenience store, grocery store, Pizza Hut, worked offshore out in the Gulf of Mexico on oil rigs, worked 14 years as a union electrician, did computer tech support for Gateway Computers, and now I'm a machinist, working for GE Aviation, making jet engines for the Blackhawk and Apache helicopters. Hopefully this will be my last endeavor... I'm tired.
