Liking the new list.
Simple, and easy to pronounce and understand.
Thanks for all that you've all done to improve the great site even more.
I'm sure the PITA designation was nearly offered up for me. 😁

Did you mean "pity" designation ?

In some martial arts, the belts progress through colors from white to black. Then degrees of black. Once the top is attained the person is a white belt again.
100000 posts would be 2nd degree newbie! 😆 Just kidding, of course.
Maybe 100000+ could be “Grails”.

Why not change it to a downwards ladder.. Sort of - regular member (a few posts here or there)
- socially awkward
- in the kitchen at party
- undergrowth lurker
- Billy no mates
- in the joint (too much time for posting)
Can't see it working, but you get the idea....

We had white, yellow, green, red and black belts. Each belt had 3 levels denoted by color tape. To move to new color belt required learning different movements for each level. Once black then it took 2 year training to qualify to test for 2nd degree, and 3 years to qualify to test for 3rd degree and so on to 10th degree.

Each Test required you learning a routine consisting of punches, kicks and blocks, followed by board breaks and ending in a competition against a member ranked above you using gloves, pads and mouth guard. Each level and belt got progressively harder.

To fight for black belts required fighting at least a black belt sometimes a 2nd degree. You were not trying to hurt each other, but it also wasn't choreographed or slow mo. You had to prove you could block punches and kicks as well as deliver them.

Once we reached Red it became intense as we would train fighting 2 at time, 3 at a time as well as pinned in a cornor.

Once we reached red you qualified to fight full contact if you wished on Friday night, Saturday at noon or 8pm, that was my favorite part....:tongue3:

No post counts were changed from newbie and gold, they are still the same count and names they have been for the last 19 years that I know of.

All we have done is add 4 new levels between gold and diamond and added one more level above diamond.
Sorry you misunderstood. I was making a compliment that after so long with the site, being a dedicated loyal member, I’d rank him gold. I’ll bow out of the conversation, because I’m really just distracting you from your work.

You are fine sir, you are not interfering, feel free to comment....

Well as I mentioned, I’m not hung up on my ranking here. My not so obvious point was that after nearly a decade and a thousand posts, you would thing a site would rank a person “gold” which is universally understood as being highly desirable. I.e. a dedicated and loyal member.

20- 50 thousand posts is simply insane - really it is. It’s a “you need counseling” level of participation.

100,000 posts is like why not undergo a speech to text implant surgery?!

No insult intended, just stating the obvious.

By the way, I’m in no way disparaging what you do here as a volunteer. I think I’ve been here since 2008 ish. Seen a lot of baby sitting.

Ours were: white, yellow, 2 greens, 2 blues, 5 browns, temporary black (black & red belt), 1st through 9th black. I stopped after being 1st degree black for a while.

LOL. I left off blue after green.. I stop after 2nd degree black my ex cancel my contract when I was working out of state. She said she canceled because I was working out of town and not using it.

I was paying $15 a month for 7.5 years because I was one of the first 25 to sign up, contract was written that rates could never be raised. I couldn't get the contract back when I tried because the school was under new ownership. New rate was $75: a month. 😭

Gold is at 5000 posts, software driven. We added the extra levels after gold because we have so many gold members.

Your profile shows you joined in 2018... I have been here 19 years this July, Jeff has been here longer...
