Doing R & I on Giles; "erred" that he was married twice... he WASN'T. Giles + Adeline Eliza Risque = ONE child... "JB" (aka James Beverly Ward ; DOB:01/27/1822-UNKNOWN DOD). Looking for DOD, now.

The Hart Bros. (or one of 'em) interviewed "JB" in the 1890's, I think... will have to review THE HART PAPERS.

CORRECT! Giles Ward was married TWICE! With Adeline Risque (Ward)... "JB" (James Beverly) was an ONLY CHILD.

"Finally, after a long illness, Ward died on May 16, 1907.... (JB') body was taken to the (RISQUE) family cemetery at Hunter's Hill, where he was buried along his son, his father GILES, and grand father, James Beverly Risque" (p. 142). HOWEVER! Hunter Hill area has been DEVELOPED into homes & business, etc; NOW, James Beverly Risque is buried with other War of 1812 vets in the Presbyterian Cemetery in Lynchburg, Va. on Grace Street. The WARDS...? Dunno.

JB's family included ELEVEN kids, some who died at birth; # 11 was Mary Beverly, B/D in 1867; # 10 was Otey Beverly, - 1864. MORE later!

The slaves were PROBABLY split between Monticello & Poplar Forest; TJ kept the FARM BOOK/REPORT & the ORIGINAL is in the basement of ALDERMAN Library, UVA CAMPUS, near the Rotunda... go get it! It details what each slave did, when; NOT sure if names are "listed"; check with monticello.org. Did "JB" know TJB of Richmond...? NO indications, that he did... AND! See "post" # 786.

As I "said", Family Research is VEXING... ECS may be correct; Giles MAY be Giles, Jr. and just filed papers for SAR... I HAVE seen Ward family members who DID serve then. CT & NY seems to be the "hot-bed" MAIN point-of-origin for AMERICAN Ward Family members; "ENTRY POINT" was NY... from IRELAND! Giles Ward... 1799-1850, will be my "parameters"; OTHERS can join in R & I. HH & Good Luck!

Well, there are still many leads that need to be chased down to wherever they might lead before one can draw upon educated conclusion. Honestly, I seriously doubt that enough conclusive evidence exist to allow for a thorough and/or accurate summation. But we'll keep looking as time permits, and who knows, maybe something truly significant might eventually be found.
