There was also a SECRET SOCIETY of WEALTHY, RICH Capitalists & Businessmen in Lynchburg, Va.; looking for THAT info, now... also was a "pic" of 'em.
FOUND IT! NOT a Secret Society like the FreeMasons (tho some of 'em coulda been FreeMasons, too); the HYENA CLUB of Lynchburg, Va. Charlie Button was a member; painting (1867) of members enjoying a "day out" on Hog Island on the James River, by Flavius Fisher. 15 members ONLY; Wealthy, Rich, Capitalists, who overcame "bad times", and became SUCCESSFUL. Id'ed members: Charlie Button, Dr. George W. Bagby, John Warwick Daniel, Flavius Fisher, & others, not yet id'ed. Non-sense pseudonyms for the members, such as... "Buggini Wufflicks, Esq.", "Vermilion Splotch", "B. Shellix Futtups", "Dr. Quintus Bebbs" were used. With much Alum Water (ardent spirits) & Lager (beer), the Hyena Club had a picnic with 15 or more "toasts" to the health of all & Lynchburg. The members chartered the A.I. copper bottom steamer Robert Nunnally, to get to Hog Island for fun, games, & get DRUNK. Sorta like Shriners of today... heh.

Painting may still be seen, if you "google" For Good or Bad, Civil War Editor was a Man of his Times - Charlie Button. Saw it YESTERDAY.

BTW... MOST of the info above came from LYNCHBURG, VIRGINIA: The First Two Hundred Years 1786-1976 by James M. Elson; pg. 193-195.

Back to the "OP"... 2nd part of "BPP"; FACTS, "LEGENDS", HISTORY!

"Explored" in several other "Threads"... read 'em ALL!

Starting with "THE SECRET" by RM, as told to Maj. FC Hutter (CSA); later Hutter was interviewed by John William Sherman... who wrote & had published, the Beale PAPERS Pamphlet (aka "The Job Print").

SO! WHO is the AUTHOR...? Well, Maj. FC Hutter is the "Author" of the "STORY"... HOWEVER! John William Sherman is the AUTHOR of the Beale PAPERS Pamphlet... heh!

James Beverly Ward and his wife, Harriet, were also involved in the story creation.
John William Sherman served as editor for story continuity and Shakespeare references.

In Lynchburg, Va., financial ruins post-CONFEDERATE WAR was due to the freeing of slaves, and less Tobacco sales, according to LYNCHBURG, VIRGINIA: The First Two Hundred Years; 1786-1986. A REAL History Book...

TWO ppl that I am aware of that had COMPLETE Works of Shakespeare were... Frank James (the Outlaw/REBEL from Tennessee) & Newton Hazlewood. Frank James & family lived in Lynchburg, Va. in 1882 for a short while; they were here, when his brother, Jesse was "killed" out west... NOT! Newton Hazlewood is "indicated" in the HART PAPERS...

You are forgetting Ward & Diggs Booksellers, AND Giles Ward and John William Sherman's activities with the Lynchburg Thespian Group.
Both acted and Sherman wrote original plays for that group,

Nah... didn't forget. I know that G. Ward was Prez of that group; do not know what plays were done "at that time"...

As a book store owner and as president of that thespian group, he would have had knowledge of the bard's work. The with Sherman.

Some of Ward's nephews could have been the author of the Job Print Pamphlet and received them at the home of his niece. He had a lot of nephews in the Lynchburg Area and some of them served in the Confederate Army.

We know what James Beverly Ward and his Hutter cousins did during the War, and what Ward's wife's aunt and cousins did during the War, and what friend Guggenheimer did during the War, and Sherman's boss Button did during the War, ... but what was John William Sherman doing during the 2nd year of the Confederate War?

Far as I know, JWS was born in Lynchburg, Va. in 1859; CONFEDERATE WAR was 1861-1865... do the "math"; just a KID.
