Yes Tnmountains, this thread has been destroyed with runaway unsubstantiated speculation. Thank goodness most of it has been deleted because it was embarrassing to say the least.

We are pretty calm in the Indiand artifact section. Thing is if you are wrong over there you are corrected. You welcome the correction because that is when you gather new knowledge and can move forward. Interesting post and I hope that the poster takes to heart some well given advice and in time comes back to us with what he has learned on his most interesting finds.
Best wishes in a hopefully new journey of knowledge.

Correcting people here is not tollerated and posts get deleted if feelings get hurt or if accusations are made... everyone here has found an ancient treasure if they think they did. :icon_scratch:

The "what is it?" section is usually pretty calm though. Almost everyone takes advice well.

I was not trying to correct him and I am sure he has found some really neat treasure. I was just saying he had been given some good advice by some knowlegable posters and should take that advice and learn from it. That was all. Not disputing his finds other than where they originaly came from not where they ended up .
In Artifacts you do get corrected on point identification. Its pretty black and white a lost lake is a lost lake and a kirk bifuracated is just that,It would be ridiculous and insulting for us to not help and correct one another. We appreciate the help.Maybe a diffrent mentality exist. One of realising you are not always correct and excepting that .Like calling a williams cleaner and enfield :icon_scratch:

Well... I should have been clearer... WE tolerate the corrections... but the mods do NOT necessarily, and frankly - we can be a little harsh. LOL

TNmountains ,now thats is a great find my friend on the gold beads!!!!!!! Hmmmm you should listen to him and post everything in the box you have found at the site in indian artifacts and see......Im a spanish relic type hunter and never even found a arrow head. We have the mounds in my area and they are off limits to all,and should be ....Post the so called victorian stuff in trade goods and indian artifacts a learn all you can....
I dont know arrowheads either because the Indians of South Florida didnt have any. But I have started a few fires and I just couldnt visualize the function of the shtt starter. I will be looking forward to what the Indian forum people have to say.

Those "hairs" look synthetic.

This North Eastern Canadian site is only spectulatively historic if I remember... every atempt to get a real archie out there proved fruitless and negative?

Anyway... I wanted to ask... did you find the red glass moon face with/along side the stamped brass ring? Why are we assuming it's from the same peice?
if you mean the 2 peices above your post, yes they where 2 feet apart and the same depth, on the mid tide line.

I see that big C. :D His is a sun god, thats why its red....Also look up the meaning of inca?I just save pictures and not the links ,and i clear my history alot to keep my computer fast .I can not find the link...
i have a modern one of these, i use it for halibut, its called a halibut spear. you tie the line through the hole then place it on a pole , when you spear the fish, it passes through, falls of the pole ,you pull the pole out of the fish, the spear turns side ways and cant go back through the hole. then you pull the fish in the boat. works well.
I got 3 halibut last summer with the spear, after i pulled them up from the bottom with my fishing rod of course. like i said, works well.

Thanks for the ID hmmm. My point is this arrowhead was posted as a fire starter. The part that aggravates me is the blatant use ofmisinformation to push a certain agenda. This isnt the first time a certain person has done this. This type of activity was going on way before the shtt starter was posted. We have a hard enough time trying to iD these unknowns without someone knowingly posting false information that by the time we get to the end of these posts we dont even know what we are looking at with all the misleading pictures, game playing and wild speculation without evidence. This isnt the first time this has happened and I dont know yet if its done on purpose to bring down TN's credibility or out of simple lack of knowlege. Most of the Inca pictures and comments have been deleted and because of the bickering feelings were possibly hurt. In the future I am going to try to ignore these types of threads and maybe they will just fade away from lack of interest. This is my rant and Ive said my 2 cents and in the end I hope we all can be friends.

They drilled holes in rocks for many reasons and i have found about 30 like that one on line....Yours is for sure pyrite because you can see the square cubes in the picture. The only info i could find on that was tribes called it fire rock and used it because of its spark ,and thats what i posted .
If you have found a firestarter rock with a hole, then please post it. I am always willing to learn. But dont post a fantasy arrowhead that you found online and label it a firestarter, with no link to support it. Cant you see that this type of activity is wrong?

So say what you want to say,and for your own good hmmm you should post it in indian artifacts . Them guys wont cry .
They havent met you yet! :D :D

Pyrite... Fools Gold... Hmmm, have you tried it to see if it sparks? http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Pyrite http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Pyrite

The name pyrite is derived from the Greek πυρίτης (puritēs), “of fire” or "in fire”, from πύρ (pur), “fire”. This name is likely due to the sparks that result when pyrite is struck against steel or flint. This property made pyrite popular for use in early firearms such as the wheellock.

I don't know what I missed... probably glad I missed it.... I just wanted to add the suggestion that the fibers or "hairs" in the lead piece might be asbestos. It can withstand high heat and could possibly have gotten embedded into molten lead.

So you want us to be caustic toward each other rather than hold it in? :icon_scratch:

LOL...NO.....not by Indians. Who knows how or who, if it is even asbestos or lead. I just thought "asbestos fibers" when I saw the hairs.
