I THINK I JUST DUG A GW BUTTON IN CANADA!

Awesome button pepperj  What a great piece of history, and it looks like it will display really well. I bet there is a good story behind how it got so far north.

Thanks for the kind reply from one that's digging up some awesome relics this past season and having a real passion for what they're doing.

Yes I'm going to display this one properly with make a case or buy one, and to make sure it's laying down on a bed of foam properly like IP suggested it's probably the best way and I trust the suggestion.

Me thinks our "banner put'er up'er person" must be out Christmas shopping or something??? :what:
Wish I could "see" the banner bar, can't find it on this darn phone! :(

If you have the same version I'm using, push the button at the top with the three dots then push "web view"
Hope that helps ya

Nice one pepperj, looks like Christmas came early.:thumbsup:

Thanks Robert

It sure does seem like an early gift that when I opened it it was a total surprise.

You've dug some amazing finds and you certainly must have had the one that just took you by surprise as it was least expected to show up in your hunting area. I guess it's hard to express how happy one is digging something, so I'll put it this way when I dug my 50BC full Clacton Type Stator I had some good tears that rolled from the eyes as I was so over the top with joy that they just popped from the eyes. Well digging this GW Button produced a few also (less than the Stator, but on par with a sappy movie):)

Here is another vote, the detail is very good.

EDIT:

PS I esp. like that you have a pic. of it still in the plug, as good or better than a video shot after the fact.

Tried that it's just the same page/view as I'm looking at now, nothing else on the screen I can touch on to get to banner vote. It doesn't help I don't have a clue either how to work this phone screen.
But thanks.

I vote this way BANNER....Jeff help me out here.

Thanks Rick for the vote, when I took the first photo I was thinking a thin token.

It's frustrating to me when electronic devices don't do the simplest thing s sometimes.

Hey there Pepp
I was just looking at your additional pics, the powder flask is nice!
Also the shaker top, I found the exact same one years ago and saw another posted on here too; it was identified as a powder shaker top, as in blotting powder from the days of quill and ink
I'm not 100% on that myself, but if it is it's a pretty cool find in itself, just thought I'd share that

It was very cool to see the GW Button and the powder flask in person today Jim, thanks for bringing them for a ride to town! :laughing7:

I still think the button would look amazing if it was restored by Ro in VA!

See you tomorrow morning at the site,
Dave

Pepper. What can I say?! That button really is the find of a lifetime, especially for being found North of the border. I love finding the old U.S. stuff up here, but I can't imagine finding THAT. Not sure if it's on the banner yet, but I'm going to vote right now!

my vote is in .. awesome recovery ...and not just the GW

Thank You very much mnixon
It's surprising at the end of a hunt what is found it adds up to a satisfying feeling.

I think it's a pretty cool find all I knew it was an early top, thanks for the reply on the shaker top ironhorse it's always a good day to learn something about a find.

Still have haven't ruled out the restoration Dave, but I'm going to wait till I get another? Ya right like that is never going to happen in my lifespan.:)
You know I really was pining for that machine last night and lucky they didn't have another one on the shelf as I would grabbed it and just ducked the head when the Mrs found out.:laughing7:
See you at the site in a few hours, I hope we get a few keepers on this one, if nothing there there is another option around the corner.

It's just that and knowing that I might not get another find like this one again makes it even a little more special. Thank you again for your support in voting for the find.

Dang they sure are making you work for your first banner. :flag_green:

That is a green flag and you would be correct if you thought it doesn't make sense, but neither does this.

Seems like the first one in anything seems to be a good struggle. :dontknow:

Let's just hope 'The Gods of Treasure Net' realize how historically important this find is due to the fact that it was found outside of the US! :occasion14:

Thanks again for today Jim, you made some really nice finds especially that beautiful crotal bell and the early token!

Send me a text when you post them,
Dave

Dave,

There's got to be at least 25 banner votes if not more....not sure why it didn't make it up top.

Regards + HH

Bill
