The James Beverly Ward house, built in 1887 at 105 Harrison Street, is located in the Garland Hill District of Lynchburg, and is still standing.

The census of 1900 has the McVeighs living in the Brookville Township and James Beverly Ward (widower) was living in their home. So they must have bought the house after 1900 and before 1907 when JBW died.

So, can anyone point to where Hunter's Hill was located? It appears it no longer stands but would like to know where it was in relation to Lynchburg

Battlestar, I know where Hunter's Hill is located. I also know the farm very well and where the old home stood. I also know where the cemetery is located. But I can not give out the information until further work is done by Virginia State Archaeologists. Which may never happen as we can not get landowner permission. I also know the farm and where Robert Morriss died in January 1862. I can not give that information out either until it is checked out with boots on the ground. They do exist though.

Keep in mind, that while places mentioned in the pamphlet and Robert Morris did exist, that is not proof of Thomas J Beale and company's perilous adventure/treasure story ever occurred outside of the pages published by "agent" James Beverly Ward.

... ALREADY posted that James Beverly Risque is buried in the Presbyterian Cemetery in Lynchburg, Va. on Grace Street, with OTHER War of 1812 Vets (BEEN THERE).
It is behind E.S. Hutter's grave-site (a GRANDSON)... VERY well-weathered tombstone.
There is even a plaque, with JBR's name on it (in the office). JBR must have been "put there" after E.S.H. died. BEEN THERE, found NO ONE else...

Baking a cake has nothing to with establishing that the Beale perilous adventure treasure tale is more than just an imaginative than a period dime novel story with play along ciphers added as a parlor entertainment.
Researching all the family relations of Risqué, Ward, Morris, where they lived, died, buried has yet to provide that the Thomas J Beale of the Beale Papers pamphlet story ever existed outside of those published paper pages.
