how old is everyone here?

hey guys i was just wondering hot old everyone is because i am just getting into TH and i have found that a lot of people are older. Which is cool because of the experience but i was wondering why there is not very many younger people like me. I am 20 years old. just thought it would be interesting!

42 ontill july always wanted one. told my self three year ago to get one. never did till this year pick up mxt with a bulls eye pinponter. cant get enought its addicting along with this web site. but my son got a fun finder by boutyhunter for xmass last year at his moms from graps he never told me untill he seen mine.hopefully he will keep it for ever like some of you guys &gales.

I am 46. I started with my dad back in 1968 or 1969 , he did the swinging and I did the digging. Came back to detecting in 1986.You couldn't have picked a better hobby. Scrooge

I am 55. Started hunting at about 30. It appears that most folks have to mature to be comfortable with this hobby because of so many things that age and the hobby have in common.

It requires patience.

It requires ethical conduct and responsibility.

It requires committment to be good at it.

It requires some reasonable funding to purchase some good equipment although this is not a major hurdle today with some great low end detectors with high end features.

I guess I could go on and on but the fact is that you don't usually see all those things in a very young person. Not to say that ther aren't older people who struggle with those things also but to find a young person who doesn't have other priorities that would trump treasure hunting is rare. After all, there are girls, boys, cars, clothes, sports, more sports, more girls, more boys and did I mention cars! It is the same reason you don't see a ton of Eagle Scouts running loose on the world. The ones that are that mature at such a young age are rare indeed.

Would love to have you join us whenever you come to Florida. Bet I can out hunt yah!

be 55 in july my first detector was a fence post. (serious) with it i turned over some boards making sure no snakes were under it and found my first real detector. it was an old Technetics brand. and the sucker worked. guess some thief snatched it or some wife hid it from her husband. but its what got me started.
