Anyone have any idea what the plastic box with the round I.D. tags are? They had her last name ENGLANDER and the hospital "Beth Isreal Hospital" The hospital is in Brookline mass. I found all of it in boston buried in a plastic bag. There is a lucky charm police looking badge that has her full name. Leslie Joy Englander, from Newton Mass. :icon_scratch:
Any ideas if the disks are her birth tags?

Another clue. The bag was dumped after 1973.

I dont know if anybody mentioned this but could that be ER as in Emergency Room? ...and these could be ID tags such as the modern hospital wrist tag? I hate to think toe tag.

I found an unusual thin silver tag with similar numbers on one side and a full name and dates on the other. I always wondered if it was a toe tag.

Is Bakelite a plastic material?
One of the first plastics like MJ said and a common color for Bakelite.Bakelite.webp

It looks like it might be a travel alarm clock case with the clock missing.

Why not just go to the hospital and ask them to research the name in their old records?

Neisner's was a 5 & 10, I have several of their good luck tokens with different names on them, they are made of aluminum. Here is a link to wikipedia explanation of who the Neisner's were........NGE http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Neisner's

Bigcy, I don't think the ER is for emergency romm, because the lucky token has the entire name Englander. This tells me its her full name.

I am considering going to the Beth Isreal, but figured I'd try treasurenet first. :-\

Another clue. I took pictures of the rest of the coins. 3 are from the Netherlands and one seems Mexican. The latest date is 1976, so the "robbery" must have happened after 1976. :dontknow:

Perhaps she was hospitalized and used the box to store her valuables while she was there? And maybe she left them there when being discharged or passing on, and the hospital threw them away when no one claimed them. Or parhaps the box was taken by one of the staff and then discarded? But the metal tags were used to Id something of hers or perhaps an early model of a wrist band? Lots of questions and few answers. Hope you find her or a relative and solve the mystery. Monty

Don't think so Monty. I found all the other items with it in plastic bags. ???
Some of the jewelry seems to have burn marks on them. Maybe there was a fire. :icon_scratch:

??? Im a little confused. Why would a hospital tag stamp a nickname in full and her real name in initials? Am I missing something? And her name is what? ???

ADDED: I see now LOL the ER wouldnt fit on the same line. :-[

I still think they may be wrist or toe tags.

The scales on the cufflinks could be a zodiac sign. Libra I believe. Could narrow down birth dates.

some one at the hospital may id the tags. i would check with different departments. the first one you check may not have older employees. start with the least inviting...ie. the basement level. some one may id the use of the tags.

1976 or later buried, not necessarily relevant to tag/hospital.
check death records where you found them or the newton.

I agree intimer. My next step is to visit the hopital. I hope she's still alive. ???

The tags look almost like cremation tags that are used to identify cremains.
Good Luck finding out about your finds.

I guess that would explain why some of the stuff looks like it was in a fire then :o.........NGE

are they from a bracelet? do they spell out something or are they individual?

Wouldn't it be funny if you found out you were trying to return her trash she threw away years ago? Stranger things have happened. :D Monty
