Well thought out dialogue guys! Everyone is thinking deep, and I can tell, giving thought to what the other persons are saying. This has helped me understand the "other side" better. Ie.: before I write/speak, I'm fully aware of possible holes in my possible "pat" answers.
Still waiting for an answer on my musing:
1) Pick anything you would consider occult. Chanelling? casting spells? remote viewing? telling the future? Pick anyone of them that even you, the dowser, would consider to have no scientific reality, and to truly be dabbling into the occult.
2) Ok, now that you have this practice in your mind, imagine yourself in a conversation with the practioner of this thing you label as occult.
3) What do you do when that person (whether they actually do or not is a mute point, it is just that they "could"): What do you do when that person denies that they are dabbling into occult? LIke, they say to you some of the very explanations and defenses that are in this thread? They tell you "No, this isn't occult, it's just un-discovered science that someday we'll understand". Or they say "No this isn't occult, it's just a natural phenomenon, like a keen sense of smell, that some rare persons have the innate ability to do - nothing spiritual, supernatural, or occultic about it!"
I'm sure dowswers are sincere and don't think there stuff has anything to do with the supernatural. Unlike the Goth teen trouble-maker who WANTs to play with spooky stuff and knows he is :P This is only to trace the line of logic. I can't see how a true occultist can be denied the same defenses. So be honest. Even if you'd never bother with such a silly discussion, this is just for illistration purposes. If you don't grant them the right to use dowsing buzz-lines, why not?
