Still looking for gold

Here's some rocks from the hillside I got a couple of days ago. Try to show the rock and then a close-up. The biotite crystal is gold colored. Not sure if that's the color or has a coating on it. Still looking for gold.

Nice Dano. I'd love to see a picture of the outcrop, if you feel ok with that. I've been out way to little this year, trying to catch up some tomorrow.

Outcrop

These are some of the exposed veins. Lots of small stringers I've been pulling rocks from. Colors and textures vary. Not sure where any values might be in the quartz or wall rocks or the druzy veins. The quart is fairly clear except the walls and fractures. Noticed a yellowish brown coating sometimes fairly thick on alot of fractures surfaces. Many old producing gold mines in the area. These veins are such an anomaly that it has got me interested. Lots of biotite, sericite, hemitite tourmolines, and other amphoboles mixed in. Any ideas?

The only dumb picture or question is the one not posted.

Thx Mr Lee.

I think this is lava ash lava ash... but I realy don't have a clue

Its gray black and has small rust color on it. Its not magnetic. Its not vary hard

I have about 20 Different kinds of rock. I started a year ago or so and it has became my main hobby ever sense

Hello Dano,
Nice pictures! it is without a doubt a rock which has been subjected to heat and pressure - it's been altered - a metamorphic rock.
I'd follow the vein and map the area as much as possible. Perhaps get a map copy to draw on, this helps to visualize the extent of veins!
Use a compass to draw the direction of the veins to, sometimes there is a preferred orientation.

Also bring the camera I always document things, helps if the memory is slippery! :laughing7:

wilfn,
What you got is likely a pegmatite. Smokey quartz can have brown to slightly blackish colour and is not rare in pegmatites due to radioactive minerals that can occur there.
I think that's what you got there, yes.

Hawt,
Pyrite?

Jonezy,
Looks like you got a sandstone there.

Jonez, I'd keep it as a curiosity or for future reference.

HardRock

This rocks story: I was out in arizona shooting my 270. And my 12 Gage and when I was sitting in my guns this rock shoots back. Lol it was behind my targets and when I missed it bounded the bullet in a different direction.
