Got A Rock you Want Identified? Post it here! gimme a good picture or 3 or 4!

Unique colorful stone/ Rock piece.

Hello. My name is Olivia. I found this unique rock piece by the road in Oregon. I think it was left there because I have never seen anything like it around oregon. Can you help me identify it? It has many different colored layers and small perfect circles that look similar to fossils but could be from different gas's, also there is crystals in small crevis's and more of I cracked it open but I don't want to do that 20181005_211529.jpg

Folks:

This rock was found in central Iowa, just west of Des Moines. We are thinking basalt, but are not sure. Any suggestions would be appreciated.B9461426-C9E8-473D-9C5D-48EF4BF65670.jpeg6EDC5CF1-550D-42DD-A8DF-06BE012E022E.jpeg6EDC5CF1-550D-42DD-A8DF-06BE012E022E.jpeg

Seeking info about this rock

This rock was found Northern NSW Australia, It is extreamly heavy for its size, Mildly Magnetic, Has a Melted like texture over 60% of surface which is extreamly strong, , has lots of green /Gold like crystal areas.. I carved into it alittle , seems it has lots of Crystal /mineral properties, IMG_20181009_022725.jpgIMG_20181009_022653.jpg

Mostly large quartz deposits with various mineralizations. I posted the rest of my finds here in hopes of getting feedback. Thanks for your help.

I never saw a reply on this one, so here's hoping someone could take a stab at identifying some of these that I found. Thanks in advance.

Strange black beach rock

Can you please identify this rock I found on a beach in Nova Scotia, Canada? It's black with some brown which I notice now that it's dry. When it was wet it was very shiny black. It looks like there are finger print-like indentations all over it, and the underside looks very porous. There are notches on the bottom edge of one side. I've taken pictures of both sides as well as top & bottom. I don't know if it's even a rock! I'd appreciate your help! Thank you.

My guess would be some kind of slag.

:tongue3: If you can tell that by color alone, I assume a career change is in order!
Do the typical tests and see what goes.

After having looked at it thousands of times in rock samples and mines you just kind of get a knack for it.

What’s this?!? I found it on my kitchen table. :: ROFL ::

Looks like Chalcopyrite on the upper right.. if there is galena its the dull grey areas...sometimes metals like zinc etc get into the mix with sulfides and wind up with flat colors like that. Or maganese oxides.. assay would say for sure but i would bet on a high silver content.
