I don't even know where to begin! My buddy Phil and I got back onto the field where I've been hunting for the past month. It's a generational site and today certainly proved that! We started in a new area and Phil almost immediately found a piece to a sword guard. A couple minutes later he found another part of the guard. I commented to him that there is probably more and that I was going to find the pommel...and sure enough 3 feet from the other pieces I found the pommel! I am very pleased with that as it's a relic I've always wanted to find!

We decide to fan out looking for more and a couple minutes later I have old silver in the hole! It's a 1676 French 4 Sol! This is actually the second 1676 4 Sol I've found.

Found a lot of lead including a couple ingots and hogue cylindrical piece. Think they were making buttons at this site.

Near the end of the day we start making our way back to the car and within 30 feet I get a nice high silver tone. I pop the plug and there it is...big American silver! This is extremely rare in my area (Nova Scotia) and I could not believe the date! Amazing condition as well!!!

( anyone else)I'm not gonna rush to Idaho cause you found something. Just interested where these Finds come from and when you say your in the US not helping. Ok that been bothering me for months. Lol

I'm not "scared" to say where I am..never have been. Did you read my post or just look at the pretty pictures? :laughing7:

Deep...probably 14 inches...

would you mind telling me what detector you are using? That is pretty good depth for lead, although it is a larger piece would you say 8 oz. or so? Thanks for the info and the pictures of such an exciting dig!

A 20 year old CZ-6. It is a really big chunk of lead!

HUH... Wasn't this just a good dream for Romeo and a bad one for the rest of us. Why is it still happening? :)

First I check location if I don't know that pretty much don't care I could google pretty pictures of old stuff. To me it's like reading just the middle of a novel. Just saying

And the guy who lives "in a scary place" irks me also.

That's an awesome handful for relics - those silvers are incredible!! That's the kind of hunt we all dream about. WTG!!!

I think I got the variety for the Half Dollar, attaching a photo with the one I think matches, I do not have a book, just compared the photos from the website I sent you and at minimum it is close and I hope in this case close enough is good enough! :) Overton 111. If it is the O-111, the auction site had it as a Rarity 4! Very Scarce

You cared enough to comment several times, even quoting yourself more than once. If you had bothered to actually READ the WORDS in my post you would have known exactly where I am.

As for the location listed in my profile, it's an inside joke...not meant to be taken seriously so don't trouble yourself.

Now that everything has been explained I will ask that you refrain from continuing to crap on my thread...thank you.

Outstanding...thanks for the work you put into this Don. I tried to make some comparisons last night but my eyes just aren't keen enough in this respect.
