Hopefully you found that at a yard sale for a very low price, looks to be a very nice early Colonial Copper!

A REALLY low price because it's not an authentic coin, and probably modern.
benefit of the doubt.

Haters because we HELPED you? You didn't say anything about your grandfather on this thread, and what does that have to do with it anyway. You asked what your coin was and were told, but in return we get called haters.

You asked for opinions, they were give to you with references. You can choose to accept or not but calling names is uncalled for and not allowed.

There are photos and links to refer to. The OP can take the post as they see fit. Name calling isn't allowed nor does it have any place when one asks for an opinion.

when you ask for an opinion the world wide web is full of them choose one for or against they do not make your opinion the word of god it seems like there are the same negative opinions coming from the same people is that what this treasure net is about i would hope it would help with a definite answer not the same nay-sayers all mighty opinion which has been the normal ask mark if he wants his forum misrepresented

Just because someone provides an opinion that YOU do not agree with does not make it wrong. The coin posted here has enough red flags to accurately label it a replica and just because that is not what the OP wanted to hear does not make that wrong.

I was taken to school on a button I recently found that I would have sworn was silver...but I listened to the"nay-sayers" and eventually changed my opinion based on those "nay-sayers". I could have become petulant and started slinging insults and resort to name calling...but I kept an open mind. My motto in situations like this is to "Hope for the best but expect the worst".

Well, the only opinions that can be discussed are the ones that the members that care enough to actually post an answer. This is true for opinions and for facts. As Shaun said, sometimes the truth hurts. Everyone wants their find to be the big one but it rarely is the case. I've even been there myself.

The rest I believe I addressed in your PM.

Now, we should get back on topic.

I'll see if I can explain...

Who is on first, What is on second, and Krazyhorse is on third.

Re: good condition '1788 Massachusetts Colonial Copper' good condition

I would like to ask what prominent points make this coin an "obvious" fake? I'm no coin expert and know little or nothing about spotting a fake. If someone can please tell me how this coin would be recognized as fake, simply from these pictures, I would very much appreciate it. Please be specific.
