Haven't posted to this thread as I DVR'd the episodes, and was
3 weeks behind in watching...didn't want any spoilers!

Whether fiction or reality, I've enjoyed the shows this year. It's nice
to see Parker finally maturing a bit, and learning how to hold his tongue
before pissing off his entire crew.

Still got a couple late episodes to watch, but they're just extra stuff
like the "Old timers", etc.

Looking forward to next season, especially when Todd has to deal with
every bureaucrat in Oregon...damn environ - mentals are gonna go nuts
with him and his operation..hope he has good lawyers.

Todd and crew (camera crew) already bought into the Highbar placer mine. It's fully permitted for 20 years, has all the equipment set up and running and they have their own well. They must be leasing for the show because the Highbar is still for sale.

This isn't the only fully permitted operating gold mine in Oregon but it's got easy access and it's ready to film. Just bring the usual BS and drama and you've got instant television success without all the prospecting, claiming, discovery or pesky mining to get in the way of the story.

Man it's almost like the website you mentioned found Clays post on here earlier in the thread screenshot his image or took their own and probably found all the other pertinent info in this exact thread:)

I love the ghillie suit the miner is wearing in the promo pic, I'm glad they are finally combining mining, stealth combat attire, and heavy weaponry while mining in Oregon. Whenever I go prospecting I often wear a ghillie suit, carry a shotty and maybe even some tranquilizer pills to slow my breathing in case I need to pull out my SASR and save the day. I'm all for packing something for protection from people and bears, but a ghillie suit and a scope in Oregon?

:) OR a group of people sitting and watching them mine while sitting in lawn chairs! , with snacks and cheering if they actually find something on their own! :)

It's good up until they start throwing aliens in space ships into the mix, then you know the show is done & heading south...and I don't mean to California.

Hey Dude! Great to see you back on the site. Hope all is well for you.

BTW, video is private...:BangHead:

Just checked it says public viewing. I have recovered from the knee replacement and shoulder. Back to work but fell on the floor at work and hit my chin. Suffering from a concussion but its getting better each week. Hoping to get out prospecting this winter. Was out in my trailer looking at the prospecting equipment. I know one thing is I will be taking it really easy.

I try to wait for at least 6 episodes on my DVR. But you guys are tempting me. lol

We all knew John Schnabel was close - but it sure makes you feel bad. He is now watching from above...he will be missed.

I thought I saw where the new season starts on October 14 2016 on Discovery. My DVR will record it anyway!

Russ I mention Friday Oct. 14th in my post above when I posted Season 7. This is a thread that began back in 2014.

Well the wait is nearly over for the new season to begin. Everyone make sure to tune in this Friday as the new season of Gold Rush begins.

On a side note:

The star and creator of Discovery’s “Gold Rush” is looking to capitalize on the current Golden Age of TV rush by setting up his own production shingle. Todd Hoffman’s new company is Gold Standard Television, an independent production and finance company based in Los Angeles.

Hoffman has teamed up with veteran producer Jose Behar to co-run Gold Standard TV. Behar has served as a producer on numerous TNT series, including “Leverage” and “The Librarians,” and was the head of business development at the production house Electric Entertainment.

“After creating ‘Gold Rush’ and spending thousands of hours on crafting entertaining and inspiring stories, as well as unforgettable characters on television, we are excited to launch Gold Standard TV to produce projects with the same worldwide appeal,” Hoffman said in a statement.

“Gold Rush” was indeed a bonanza, a reality series that followed the quirky characters of Hoffman, his father, and friends as they tried to strike it rich in the Yukon. Even in its seventh season, “Gold Rush” still topped the cable ratings charts, drawing in more 18-49 viewers on Friday nights than some broadcast scripted series would on more-watched days of the week.

Gold Standard’s first project is a scripted series, “Prodigal,” based on an idea from Hoffman. The story follows a Manhattan gangster as he heads into the Western frontier of the 1870s. Author and screenwriter Nathan Edmondson (“Iron Man,” “Who Is Jake Ellis?”) is penning the pilot.

After “Prodigal,” Gold Standard’s mission is to create three or four series a year — both scripted and unscripted, and for digital platforms in addition to traditional TV.

Already got my DVR programmed...:occasion14:

I'm afraid Todd may become a perfect example of "The Peter Principle",
which states that "A person will continue to rise until they reach the level
of their own incompetence".

Hope he knows what he's doing, as he's stepping into a seriously competitive
market, and his competitors have a much bigger bankroll that he does.

(p.s. Ain't been on much lately as my desktop finally blew a motherboard, so
I'm having to use this ancient laptop until I can get a new one.)
