Gold ll escudos

This is too involved and complicated for me, and I have other things to do, but if caught any of this at all, the following might be in some way slightly relevant or helpful. Or maybe not.

I find pictures of 47 varieties of 2 escudos under Phillip II in the book Monedas Espanolas Desde Juana E Carlos a Isabel II 1504 a 1868. Mints include Burgos, Cuenca, Granada, Madrid, Mallorca, Segovia, Sevilla, Toldeo, Valladolid, and Zaragoza.

Good luck.

PegLeg sure knew how to get us going. I bet he's up there laughing knowing we still read his post

There are several ghosts lurking in these archives. I'm glad TN doesn't allow old posts to fall out of the archives.

and some say the dead can't speak -- HA --(thru books and records the dead speak to me daily as I do research)--- a wise man knows that the entire history of mankind is nothing but the tales ofdead men (and women) deeds of the past.

often its from these writings of the past (and maps - knowledge of the past events ) that the clues to todays great treasure finds are gleaned.

and yes peg leg would make you both laugh and scratch your head at the same time. (could this outragous thing he said actually be true?) -- interesting people are often a mystery

I found 6 Gold 2 escudos on the Margarita and was on board when we recovered 2 on Atocha and all but one were "S" MINT the other was a Bogy. The Bogy's are very rare in that time period. I am not a coin expert i just like to find them so i really can't tell you why so many "S" mint coins were on the 1622 fleet but the are there for a reason.

Greg: I might add that the Bogies in 1622 are very rare coins in general. Now, 1715 bogies are very common and I have several, one in nice bezel that really looks fantastic. How many 1715 bogies have you found?
