i don't do much hunting this time of year, unless there is a cleared field, or the pines.

I have seen a lot of building going on in Cranberry, Middlesex Co. many of the old farms there are being turned into industrial office parks. This might be a good place for a Sunday morning hunt. Does anyone know the area?

I'm not too familiar with Cranbury but I'm in Middlesex county so it should not be too hard to get to. Unfortunately, I can not make it until the afternoon which may be too hot for some people. I have church at 9am and skipped it last week so I really should go this week...I have to be a good example for the kid. Do you have directions to the site or the street names? I maybe able to make it around noon if you are interested.

Last week I printed off some old maps from 1916 and 1933 of Cranbury. I know the area has some history to it so I was going to start venturing out there.

My preference this time of year is to get started a 5:30 AM and go until 8:30 AM, so maybe you can make it before church.

It may be hard to swing but let me speak to the boss and see what I can work out. Do you hunt at all on Saturday mornings?

I'm In for Sat allow for travel time - I live in Brick.

Sun I spend the time with the family I only go after 6pm

It sounds like Sat. is a better day for all.

Neil or N.J. Pls. post our 1st event

Date - Location - Time & what Equipment that needed

"remember I'm a sandflea hunter"

It will hafta be early Sat.....I am like a dirt fisherman. I was up last Sunday at 5:30 am (and that was after a night of many shots of tequilla). The wife will start complaining if I am home after 11AM.

If we can find somewhere at the intersection of 195 and the Jersey Tpk, that might be a good place to investigate. Eastern Mercer, Southern Middlesex, Northern Burlington, Western Monmouth and Ocean all come together near there.

Here is a link that will be help: http://mapmaker.rutgers.edu/MAPS.html

I will also do some research on mapquest and google earth. I found some good Hessian maps as well, but the detail is not as great. Here is the link for them: http://www.westjerseyhistory.org/maps/revwarmaps/hessianmaps/

I'm working on Saturday morning but I probably will not know until later in the week. If you guys want to set up something now I will try to make sure I make it for at least part of the hunt if not the entire thing. As far as locations go I'm game for almost anywhere. Neil - you mentioned Cranbury and when I read some more online it could be interesting to hit somewhere there but whatever you guys decide is fine with me. I have not been out for a few weeks and I'm really starting to get an itch that needs to be scratched.

Well it looks like this weekend is not going to work for me. I hope you guys still get together. Keep me posted on how things turn out.

OK, so I'm skunked twice now at my local parks, way too much trash and finding aluminum cans and change no older the 1980.
How about we try to connect once before the summer is over and the snow comes in.
Let's all pick a few sites, do some homework on them and then chose our best bet.
We set it up a few weeks in advance so everyone has time to adjust and then we meet at a rest stop nearby the place and gear up and go.
I must say I really need help finding places to go besides the beach.
Everything around here is so over developed and private property, I am becoming fairly discouraged and Im still so new to this hobby, but I dont know my SE all that well and could use a few times out with some experienced hunters to learn the most right signals to look for and dig.
So, help? maybe?

Newbie here, I live in south jersey, outside of ac, ocean city .. am interested in going and hunting too...ocean city is kinda dead or over run with detectors there.
