I started to hunt around Chimney Rock a few years back

Spanktown where the skirmish took place is modern day Rahway. I drove through Rahway the other day and in the down town area there are large areas where they cleared old buildings out and it looks like they plan on building some new buildings. Large muddy cleared lots just waiting for a MD to be swung but they are all surrounded by eight foot fencing. So I just drooled on the outside looking in.....

Has anyone done any research or detecting on Olympic Park (Amusement Park) in Irvington/Newark. I came across a Pictorial History of the park in the library which dates back to the early and mid 1800s but I have not attempted to do any on-site snooping. From the pictures it looks like it could be a very good site. I work in Newark and do a little detecting there but I always feel like I have to keep one eye on the ground and the other one on my surroundings.

Any info would be greatly appreciated.

Thanks for coming aboard and pitching in !

I see that your in Lynhurst.

Goal Digger & I are in central Jersey.
I get a feeling that most of the posters on this board are going to pull something
together soon....the power is in the numbers !

I think that I can speak for G.D....count us in for a mtg. to go meet and see what we can do together. I vote for meeting at aplace on the parkway (GSP)- that way more people can find the location more easily as well as getting there- perhaps at the rest stop after you go over the Driscoll bridgr (Raritan River/Bay)-south of the bridge .

Would this be possible/comments/ideas ?

Hey everyone,
If it warms up a little and I can make the time/date that you decide on I would like to join you for a hunt. I'm exit 131 off that parkway so the reststop you mentioned is not too far from where I am. I have been so busy lately that I have not been out since last year and I really need to get out soon. Need to scratch the itch.

OK- So far this is our list of people showing interest in getting together to see if we can create an organization .
Together we would search out -off the beaten path (so to speak) areas that have the potential of being laden with historic finds.

Please respond if your name is on the list to let us know that you are still interested in being part of our initial meeting which appears to be in March.

Here is a recommendation. We should first all update our profiles using the map feature to pinpoint our approximate locations. See my profile for an example. Then, can someone plot it all out on a map so that we can have a visual of each person's location? This will help us pick sites that are somewhat central to the group.
