You cant change your vote.

I would be curious for the votes over $20 what they think it may be and how much over they think its value is. I respect every regular TN members opinion.

With the UFO sighting being right before the find and TN fame I think its possible to go to $40. The Alaskan egg counter sold for $40 before it was IDed. But without TNs fame, the item itself $2-$20 IMO. Would love to hear the reasoning behind those that voted over $20. Thanks.

your welcome. Any word from Mr. Meteorite?

I admit I dont know meteorites. I did a little research however on meteorite knives. I still dont think it looks like a meteorite and I question who would make a wedge or an even sided weight out of a meteorite because its surely not a knife.

The biggest mystery here is why its not rusted. I figured it was cleaned or recently lost. How could an item have rust pock marks and not be rusted??

Here is something to consider. My Remington butcher knife has fake pock marks. Yes they are fake. It was made at the factory with pock marks. It seems this may have been a popular thing to do in the 20s-30s era because the entire line of Remington butcher knives has fake rust pock marks.

Im not sure its visible in the picture but check it out.

Yes i can see them and thats weird if they did it to make it look like that, but the ones on my item are bigger and varie in shape and size.....but thanks for the info very interesting!but i cleary can see them on your blade....

Here is a video of one of the old Remington butcher knives. You can see the pock marks here. I have this same knife and the rust pock marks are fake made from the factory. Im not saying your rust pock marks are fake but its something to consider. http://www.treasurenet.com/forums/what/331160-knife-experts-needed-remington-k4814.html
I totally agree with you and i dont think your saying they look fake...thanks for the input and i will check out the video....

Maybe its a 20s-30s era decoy weight of some kind with stylish pock marks? An anode would explain the pock marks and so would a back up drill piece. I dont like the back up drill theory because it doesnt look as if it would lay flat. Someone mentioned a Sturgeon decoy weight.

One thing Im certain is the marks are not regmaglypts and Mr. Meteorite confirmed that.

  • Rust pock marks come in all sizes. Heres a better pic. Apparently Remington thought it was cool and would help sales..

I cant believe there is only 13 votes, it is basically half the people thinks its junk and the other half dont......hopefully people give their honest opinions and take the time to vote....
