In the begining everyone thought the symbol on the nuts was a lotus flower untill the pin was shown. Then it changed to a vollyball, and that isn't even a complete match. It sure doesn't look like the vollyball on the nuts (the side of the nut that shows a vollyball). Like I said, it could be, and then again, it might not be. Either way, we are still as close to identification as we were in the begining. Close don't count, and I believe it will take looking in other directions to truely identify these.

This is also the same logo as the pin.

I realize that all the nuts may not represent the 2002 Asian games.

yeah, that is world cup, not asian games, no connection

That same logo was put on probably millions of things.

Saved you the time in looking. Here is a pic of the 2002. And yes, there has been lots of different World Cups around the world.

Are you saying World Cup soccer and Fifa World Cup soccer are not the same?

no, What I'm saying is the World cup is not connected to the asian games in any way.

world cup soccer is world wide

Asian games are limited to the members of the Asian Olympic Council

so what you are saying is... The USA competed in the 2002 Asian games?

just because its redundant dosen't make it correct.

not sure where you are getting your information

The (world cup asian games) was NOT a single event or an event at all.ever

I think Ralphw is on to something, and is looking in the right direction. Bigcypress, don't give up, but don't condemn others ideas either. So far, nothing has been proven, and that is what we set out to do, PROVE what THESE are. The only way to do that is to be open to all ideas unless we can rule them out completely. I'm open to any ideas, but PROVING it is the problem, and the only way we are going to do that is with an open mind.

your link points to the 2002 fifa world cup held in Japan/Korea

nothing on that page about the Asian games

what i'm trying to say is

the 2 are separate events, the asian games were not part of the Fifa world cup event or visa versa

there was no Germany or auto racing at the asian games

please help me out here. where do you find the info stating either?

btw the Winter olympics were in 2002

If they do represent different sports at different places, or even times, then concentrating ALL efforts on just the Asian, Japanese, or any other ONE part of it will get us nowhere....which is where we are at. We must broaden our fields of search like we were doing in the start of all of this.

If the World Cup soccer is not part of the other Asian games, so what? They were all held in the same area at the same time.

the so what is.... you are trying to categorize all the nuts under the Asian games and they don't and wont fit

asain games
Opening ceremony September 29, 2002
Closing ceremony October 14, 2002

2002 FIFA World Cup,
the 17th staging of the World Cup, was held in South Korea and Japan from 31 May to 30 June.

maybe its World Cup skiing

I think that they were originally collected as premiums from McDonald's or Pepsi, (one at a time) as in; Hey kids.... Get your Fifa/Olympic collectible pieces today! Just buy a Happy Meal or a Large drink! Collect all 12 different pieces........NGE (T)

I have contacted both McDonalds, and Pepsi. Neither had ever seen them before. Pepsi even passed the pics along to several of their branches, and I was receiving replies from them for a couple of months.

How about gasoline station premiums, like those dang aluminum Shell car coin game thingys.

none of them are connected to the asian games then. correct?

good

At least we are not the only ones who can't identify them.

Please dont say that!!! I consider the 2002 Fifa World Cup to be an "Asian game." Afterall, it was played in Japan and Korea. Maybe this is part of the misunderstanding here.

well i guess

soccer is a game and the world cup was played in asia in 2002 so I guess in 2002 the fifa world cup was an "asian game"
stretch

but not the real official Asian Games 2002

Quote Mark Parker, "they strongly suggest", but even he couldn't say for certain. On identifying them "so far without success". Close it if you want, but even he couldn't say for sure.

Im sorry guys but I have to agree with PBK- qoute: "I'd say the resemblance is more than close enough to call this mystery solved!"

and Mark Parker- quote: "nothing else even comes close." (referring to gon-gi stones)

They may have been wrong before but I just cant remember when. :icon_scratch: :D

well... i also stated I think they are gongi stones, but I want to know what that last nut is and what they are refering to other than various sporting events
