Nice Treasure :D.... congrats !

SWEET ! I use a xlt spectrum too and Hope I Find a jar some day with a whole lotta silver ! Post like this Keeps our hopes up and Is what makes it fun. Way to go ! NOW Go back and find the rest of those jars !

I have been to a few of the sites Tony hunts. these are absolutely RIPE for caches. In fact it was the 1st thing we discussed when we went out to them. Tony is in the fortunate position of having enough perfect sites to hunt within 1/2 mile of his front door that he could not cover it all in his life time.
I don't doubt this at all.

I hate to say it cause i have been there and im jealous i didn't find it but.......Banner!

Congrats! :hello2: :hello2: :hello2:

One Great Find!

Looks from the 30's the coins are well used as all were in the great depression. Nice super Nice Dig :icon_thumright:

Awesome find and worthy of the BANNER.

JS,
I've always wanted to find a cache myself. What do you mean by a site being "ripe for caches"? :icon_scratch:
Is there something we should look for to help the odds of finding one? :dontknow:
Thanks,
MM

Look for cache trees with jars of coins on them ready to fall.

Banner! Banner! Banner!

That's what I'm talkin' bout :icon_thumleft:

GG~

I have a question posed to the critics within this post or to any others who may wish to weigh in...Where might I find the "Accepted Standards of Recovery" for which I need to follow in the event I should ever be fortunate enough to uncover a buried cache and then share my findings on this forum? Yes, it would be nice to be able to review the full documentation during recovery of such a cache, but let's be real, other than a few(and you know who you are)...how many of us go out in full preparation for such a find. As for me I accept what Tony has posted here and congratulate him on his find. And Tony, unless you ask, I say go ahead and clean, restore, display, or value your finds in a manner which are acceptable to you. Alas, my 3-D camera and field crew has finally arrived, so let me go dig my anticipated cache and I'll report back.

Anyway.......Great find Tony and you get my vote for Banner!

Tony, I guess you don't need those rolls of late 1800's silver coins you were asking for 2 weeks ago.

BB,
You can bet I will be. ::) ;D

:hello2: Hey Tony, I can tell you for sure, what an awesome find and feeling you got going and it seems you are taking it well, better than I did. I can and do believe every word you are saying, just by the way you are saying it. I to a couple of months ago found a cache of a lifetime, one I will never forget, banner or no banner. I was so happy after all the years of finding just small things and a few nice keepers through the years that it was well deserved. In fact I was so happy I shared it with everyone here on T-net so they could enjoy it with me as well. It was an old Ball jar with 32 old coins inside of it, from Indian Head pennies to Silver dollars, with some type of lard or grease of somekind on them and wrapped in wax paper, then sealed in the jar. That lasted, I'm told about one hour after I made banner, then it was pulled. Why? I still am at a loss. I've read the authenticity rule they posted and others have shown me and I don't see anything that disqualified me or you in any way. But it started just as yours is, a few non-beleivers and thier comments, is all it took to get it pulled from the Banner. Afterwards I was so upset and voiced my opinion that they pulled my entire comment, story and pictures of my find. I can only assume because it was getting to much attention and the comments just kept coming in supporting my find. After that there was nothing to comment to, because it was all pulled. I still feel Jeff and others need to re-consider and post it back on the net. Or at least allow me to put it back on the site with a picture of my find. I made the mistake to of cleaning and then posting, then showing where and how I found it and even told them it was done this way. Anyway, great find, keep at it, there is more there to be found. I have found a thing or two since, but have decided not to post it for now. Good luck to you, Ken. :hello2:
