Ebay Picks

Beautiful Lima 8R Stan, I take special notice now! when you post eBay coins :laughing7: Will soon let everybody know ;D
All my Consolacion coins are as shinny, heavy cleaning, my 8R only weighs 18gs.
Nice Pottery, Roman/ Spanish design?
Cheers, Sam

There were Spanish missions on the Santa Fe river in Florida, so one would like to think that could be the origin. The imprint does look somewhat like a coin design, but obviously not quite the right size. Who knows, maybe the Indians made the piece, copied from something that was Spanish.

Good starting bid price with free shipping.

It's a lift copy. If it has any gold in it, it might be worth a little. At 10 grams, you have to wonder. There is a gold addative for casting that looks a lot like that. I think it is called "new gold."

I made a Lima 1704 4 esc. years ago, and a couple 1699 2 esc. Not the easiest coins to copy.

isn't that 1653 a known fake from sedwicks list?

Not necessarily. In fact I sent him a link to one very similar that was almost identical to the one on his site and he said he would have to see it first. I would make sure the seller had a decent rating and return policy so I could inspect it first if I was bidding. Good eye....

Stan

Thanks, I am almost 99% sure it's a fake after looking at Mr Sedwicks fake and the sellers. I put the pics side by side and the cobs are exactly the same. So I'm just going to steer clear of it. I notice it didn't sell anyway.
