Are you serious? Someone actually found your house and are scoping you out to follow you to your site? In the BVI? That's crazy. I guess you have to drive around town to make sure that you don't have a tail before ever going back to your site.

Poachers, don't you just hate them, I sure do??!! They sit back in the comfort of their' home or other abode, perusing the net, hoping that someone will give out too much information on a site or find, then pounce on it when they have or think they have found the location. Besides prospecting, metal detecting and having a lot of other hobbies, I hunt for Ginseng. I belong to a Ginseng forum and often worry that the members and myself may give out too much information about a great place to hunt. It happens as there is trash everywhere you look, not just in the trash dumpsters! I have never, nor would I ever, violate the sanctity of someone else's found location! I even have bad feelings when invited to join someone and then I make more finds than they do.

P.S. Sorry that I haven't posted much to this Thread for awhile, my middle sister is in the hospital and is in very grave health!

sorry to hear that.

watch this space!
postings by mid-week I should think!!

OK -

so I had planned to get out this weekend with my underwater camera to find "items" on the seabed....

but did not realize that some people reading these posts are on my doorstep (yes, YOU in the crummy room!)

So, I will be getting drunk this weekend in Trellis Bay (as its the full moon) and I'll head out soon, without announcing it!!

in the meantime... I think I will hold onto my "first" clump...

Cube Acrylic Coin Paperweight Factory, View Cube Paperweight, TIANMA Product Details from Shenzhen Tianma Arts & Crafts Co., Ltd. on Alibaba.com

what do you think?

UPDATES TO FOLLOW.......
Not sure about the paperweight idea, only because of the company location. Just don't like anything going to or coming from China. As for the douche bag stalker, take him on a long trip to nowhere and sabotage his ass.

Ha! no, I was going to take my clump to the States on my next visit, and get them "cubed" there -
I had this thought; I'm not going to sell these (for reasons I'll explain later) so though the best way to preserve them, and have the handled safely, say at a dinner party, was the "cube" idea.

my pal has his NYPD Shield in one and it looks cool.

Any thoughts?

if its made of methacrylate it will turn yellow eventually. Some other plastics will crack with time

I think it's a personal choice. I wouldn't do it but that's just me. I recently had an FBI badge that was encased in lucite. I've actually sold coins that were encased in lucite. Nothing as rare as an encrusted stack of shipwreck coins but, they still sold well. I know your not planning on selling, so the choice would be yours as to how you wish to preserve/display them. Me, after preservation I would set up a shadowbox for display, along with other relics from the site. JMHO

Great idea but from what I know about these processes, the item or items must be totally air free before being encased in the substance. If they are not, they will expel air bubbles into the compound's mixture while it is still in liquid state and when hard, the air bubbles are there and will cloud, distort and otherwise distract from the beauty of the objects sealed inside. If and only if, the air can be removed from the coins and their' encrustation, should you have anything like this done! Also, as Nutriasub stated, some will turn yellow and others will crack. Synthetic Clear (White) Sapphire would be my substance of choice! However, I do not believe that there is a way to get them encased into a growing Sapphire Crystal but who knows. It is worth exploring, since Sapphire with a hardness of 9.0 on the Mohs scale, when grown and then cut in the right manner and angles, will almost be indestructible, will literally last forever and never yellow!

Also, thanks for the earlier thoughts of sympathy! Diabetes and several bouts of Pneumonia have taken their toll on her' bod. She has Congestive Heart Failure due to excess fluids around her' heart and in her' body, a portion of her' heart is actually not functioning and considered dead and she is also in Renal Failure! Besides the medications for removing fluids retained in your body, they are trying daily Dialysis in hopes of removing the fluid but so far, it has not been very effective. We are hoping for the best but the third Dialysis treatment today, will have to alleviate the excessive fluid problems, otherwise there is very little hope. She seemed to have given up after our' oldest sister passed in December of 2011 but after some very emotional talks with all of us in tears, she is actually fighting for her' life now.

Frank

P.S. Everyone, please do not let my sister's health problems from detracting from this amazing ongoing story and Thread!

Sounds like its a one time deal that has to be done right?
may have to re-think and go along the lines of a shadow box (or if things work out as planned - a small museum:icon_thumright:

Best wishes to your sister frank!

Right! If done wrong, then you will probably have to break or cut them out and try again. How about a custom made aquarium type box decorated inside to look like the sea bottom with various replica pieces of a shipwreck scattered around the coins?

Thanks for the kind words for my' sister! She is doing much better today and has lost a lot of the fluid, so much so that they cancelled the dialysis for today.

I am keeping my' fingers crossed for you! Man it sure would be something to be in on such an adventure! I would give my' right #### for a chance to help salvage a Spanish Treasure Ship. What the hey, it don't work much anyway!:sad5:

That's way cool that you will soon have your' Scuba Certification! Go get them coins, cannons, bars of Silver and Gold and bling. I would bet there is some serious bling (Gold Chains, Emeralds, etc.) on the wreck and it would really be something if it rivaled what Mel Fisher's crews brought up from the Atocha and Santa Margarita!

Keep one eye on the treasure and the other out for them scallywags, ah Captain!!:piratehand:

I think you and most of us. Lol. I am living through his future finds. I hope he scores big!!!

Whatever you do, be VERY careful of WHO you tell about WHERE you found these...next thing you know the archies or even the government will be on your site like fleas on a hound and you will have NOTHING...

HH,

BVI Hunter,

I hope that all is well with you and that you are finished with the Scuba Diving Certification and back onsite to make sure than no scallywags have trespassed on your' find! If I had found something as exciting and life changing as this, I would have feared ever leaving without someone to watch and safeguard it!
