DOC NOSS-Victorio Peak OR The Caballo Mountains

Ok thanks mann and ajones.
thanks ajones for the kml files.
how could i have missed the giant yellow compressors? they even show up on goggle earth.
is the yellow compressors the reason its called the yellow paint mine???
where I thought the yellow paint mine was is about 1/4 mile further east at the end of the old trail.
so mann, have you made sense of the noss map and done any digging???

still freaks me out that this website (app) puts a frowning face with question marks above it whenever I ask a question.
how does it know?
probly going to put one on the above line also?

Not sure about the compressor I suspect it was used for bat guano in bat cave. The mine has dirt or something that has a yellow pigment in it. I'm no veteran but any map posted in a public forum is prob false, but when you just want to get out in the hills it's as good a spot as any to enjoy the mountain. One thing I can assure you that area has been looked at hard by people who know what they are doing. The author of the lure of the caballos has a claim up high in that canyon where he has spent a lot of time. But hey maybe they missed something. Good luck WR.

Whiskeyrat,
To the south of Caballo just passed Rincon is a group of rocks/hills that have been mined extensively....to the west of the Border Patrol Checkpoint between the river and I-25. There are several yellow compressors/water pumps abandoned in these mines/cave and they appear very old. Fair warning, the Border Patrol has followed me around this area, when I ask why they claimed they weren't following me. Oh well...right. I guess I have nothing to hide. Several unique petroglyphs on the rocks too. This area was a crossing point for the Rio Grande for centuries.

RB:
would that be the Tonuco Mountain area about half way between Rincon and Radium Springs?

Mann:
yes, that entire side of the caballos has been searched hard for 85 years by a lot of experienced people. Its amazing that no one has been able to find either willies cave or the doc/toni cave, despite that both of them have fairly easy access if you believe anything in any of the books. Or they have been found and it was kept very quiet. Almost makes on think that virtually everything recorded about these is false and intended to lead searchers in the wrong direction.

Whiskeyrat,

As of about 1997, whatever was left in Willie's Cave was still there. My best guess is that if it were there 18 years ago, then it is likely still there. I can't say about Doc&Toni's Cave in the Caballos.

Heck Mike,, I am sitting on the main depository of Tayopa, and cant find how to access it, and it is considerably smaller in size - -- dimensions, not values -- and of the same type of terrain. I can see how easy it would be to miss it in the Caballos.

I drew you the map.png

No need to thank me. :laughing7: :coffee2: :coffee2: :coffee2:

You guys are searching too south . Don't forget from where Willie have rented the horse in his first search .
M&M:
i realize your not from the new mexico area, but if you were to search for willies cave, how far do you think it is from his cabin (johnnie gordons line shack) and which direction?
thanks

Mike:
how are you so sure there was still something in 1997 in Willies cave?
If you were a searching man, how far from willies cabin would you search and which direction?
thanks

WR,

The answer to your first question is privileged information. Sorry

"IF?" HAHAHA I AM a searching man. There are several stories floating around about Willie going to and from his cave and the shack. If I had a better than average idea of where Willie/Laurence's Cave was, I'd be camped there right now. HAHAHA

Like I have stated previously, Willie/Laurence never told anyone exactly where his cave was. I don't even know for certain that Buster knew where the "Treasure Cave" was. He may have only known about the "Stash Cave" down by Hackberry Spring. The only reason I can imagine is because of the possibility of there being several bodies in his cave. Since there is no statute of limitations on murder, I am certain Willie/Laurence did not want to spend his remaining few years on Earth in jail for multiple homicides. That's another thing anybody hunting for Willie's Cave should also keep in mind.

First, that IF you find it, you will likely find several rotted corpses as well as gold. That means that you are supposed to stop all work and get the police. Are you really going to do that and turn over all that gold to Uncle Sam?

Second, that a well known pathogen (actually a fungus) that grows in bird/bat droppings in the dirt inside sealed mines/caves is called HISTOPLASMOSIS. When you disturb the dirt in a cave where bats or birds have crapped, you can breathe in the fungus. Once in your system, the fungus grows in your bloodstream. You feel like you have a cold. If you don't get medical help in pretty short order, Histo has a very high mortality rate if left untreated.

So, if anybody thinks they may have found Willie's Cave, then make sure you have "AT LEAST" a respirator and a Tyvek Suit. I would also bring in a 12volt blower, and change out the air in the cave.

Take Care - Mike
