I hope everyone had good safe Holiday times.
We did, and though there were a lot of people,
everything worked out well. There's just so
many different things you can do, in the
area. Some top musicians have played
in, built or bought theatres. Best on
a slower weekend when everything
is open, not the crowd and traffic.
Busy time is tolerable, just slower
getting around, longer lines for
coasters or shows. The 2 plays,
for the Nov. and Dec. festival,
with their many talented folks,
are quite good. Charles Dickens'
"A Christmas Carol", and Newly
added, a modern production of
"It's A Wonderful Life" both fill
up well before show time, and
get standing ovations at end.
The family is very much into
entertainment, and along with
the early pioneer settlers and
western theme, lots of children's
entertainment, shops, food, a train,
world class coasters and kiddie rides,
music shows, old time crafts of all kinds...
Including blacksmiths, copper smiths, wood
carvers, fiddle makers, pottery, glass blowing, knife
making, handmade pine and hardwood furniture, soap making,
cabin building, gunfights on main street, homestead pickers
at the pickin' shed, several different festivals through the
year including bluegrass, and gospel picnic, etc.
They, the Hershen Family (spelling?)
own a lot of entertainment properties, and have been
able to maintain control, with the dominant Old Western
and Christian theme in town, and at their Silver Dollar City...
