James Madison University - Shenandoah Valley, Virginia; Psychology (Maj), Religion (Min)... 1977; Masters (M.Ed).... 1978.
Once you get degree, do what you want "within reason". I had MANY Religion & Philosophy courses, could have had DOUBLE Majors... Psychology and one in Philosophy & Religion (would have been a TWO year program)... went for MASTERS in Counseling Psychology, instead. Masters Program (JMU) was a two year(s) program; did it in one & a half. "Career" was: House-Parent (was married at the time) for Farm-School for "Troubled boys", Rehab. Counselor at Sheltered Workshop, Rehab. Counselor for Va. Dept. of Rehab. Services, Senior Peer Counselor for Woodrow Wilson Center for Independent Living, Community Relation Coordinator for Independence Resource Center (Piedmont area, Va.), Corrections Counselor for MAX Security Prison in Va,. Treatment Programs Supervisor for same prison...was also Top-Administrator-on-Duty (WARDEN), ENDED up as TAOD, the last month (1992) of my "career". Been on Disability/State Retirement since... BUT! Did VOLUNTEER work for Central Virginia Criminal Justice Academy and Virginia State Police; bored on Disability/Retirement, I MAY return to Central Virginia Criminal Justice Academy... got some ideas for CIVILIANS helping Law Enforcement in CRIME PREVENTION, even reporting Crimes-in-Progress via High-Tech Phones linked with local Police/Sheriff "Dispatch". Scott, YOU can help Native Ppl with your Psych. Degree, I thought you have Cherokee Nation "blood". I have Powhatan/Monacan Nations "blood". GOOD LUCK! MATH...? I HATED Math & Statistics... MAY find tutorials on the "Net"... dunno. BLUNTLY, Math & Statistics classes were a WASTE of my time. I did a LOT of "independent" study of Jung, Frankel... on topics of an "occult" (hidden) nature; spent LOTS of time outdoors, meditating, contemplating, thinking, reflecting...Coffee...? BTW: Here's the FUNNY part... I started out in Sociology, but had a "Prof" who was German and spoke MANGLED English; being Hearing-Impaired & reading lips didn't help (1970... graduated from HS in 1969, went to community college for 1 1/2 years; dropped out (found my "calling"... Psychology); JMU-bound.
Try these words for your next haircut just say ". High and tight" I've been doing it for 36 years!!!!

Yes.
Yes, you and I could probably converse for hours on any myriad of topics.
Academics is harder than most jobs. The constant stress, the late hours, etc.
My Respect and Best Wishes,
Scott
A little song that I'm reminded of as I begin a weekend of college studyin'.....
Yeah, Y'all should go "full screen" here 'bout now.
You can thank me later.
But, I want you to really think about ....
A Flame.
A passion.
A dream.
You must surely by now know mine.
What is yours?
How will YOU make it real?
Best,
Scott
When Fleetwood approached Lindsey Buckingham about joining Fleetwood Mac they were only looking at Lindsey, he told them he and Stevie were a package deal either both or neither...

GA (Go Ahead)... inquiring minds wanna KNOW!
well there was a perfect evening in flagstaff during the summer of ( 79?)
she and I went for a walk in the high desert scrub and she was surprised to know I brought a quart of coconut oil and a bottle of rum.
after a couple hours around the fire all alone, I took the oil from my pack and set it about 18 inches from the edge of the fire.
not saying a word ( but I could see in her eyes the question mark) (( she was not all that talkative in person))
as she had a nice buzz going I took the warmed oil and in my palm poured a couple of teaspoons worth, then I gently spread it on the back of her neck and massaged very slowly..

Yeah...? GO ON!
well, you know how low her voice is? she began this low inner moaning
I stopped massaging, leaned down to her ear and ordered her to be silent. She replied " yes master".
I resumed rubbing her warm soft neck and could sense and feel her melting in my hands
